    Summary:
    What truths will be unveiled between the two former lovers?

    “You’ve been trying to keep me at arm’s length this whole time.” Tina rightfully accused her. “Not wanting to talk about anything remotely personal between us. Always keeping the conversation in public and focused on Ashley and her treatment. And that’s not counting all the years I never fucking heard from you.”

    “Tina . . . “Bette sighed, but was cut off once again.

    “Not once, Bette.” Tina reminded her, shaking her head in bewilderment. “Not one fucking time.”

    “It would have served no purpose.” Bette attempted to provide reason behind her odd behavior.

    “Oh, please. You knew that I called you. Repeatedly. On every fucking phone number I knew.” Tina’s voice grew icy cold with barely contained fury as each word exited her lips. “And you never answered any of my calls or messages.”

    “I know.” Bette took a moment and let that truth fully sink in. She shook her head in acceptance and shame.

    “Not once.” Tina threw her hands up in the air in anger.

    “Yes.” There was no denying it. Tina was right. She had acted in a despicable manner.

    “And you fucking changed your personal emails with no forwarding information.” Tina started to pace, her whole body ablaze with years’ worth of frustration. Hands on her hips, she torpedoed the doctor. “Who does that?”

    “I suppose. . . “

    “No, Bette.” Tina continued to rail at her. “I have a right to tell you what it felt like on my side of the ocean. You instructed your assistant to not provide any information to me about you. Then, your office stopped taking my damn calls.”

    “I don’t . . . “Bette started, but Tina won’t allow her to finish the thought.

    “No, don’t make any more excuses.” Tina hissed in warning. “Do you know how much that hurt?”

    “I . . . “Bette was at a loss for words with Tina’s pain being relived.

    “Let me tell you that it hurt a hell of a lot, Bette.” Tina’s temper raged thinking back to those times and her loneliness. The days and nights of not knowing what had happened. “A fucking lot. It cut deep.”

    “I’m sorry.” Was the brittle reply from Bette. She knew in her heart that she had hurt Tina deeply. That guilty had been a constant companion for her all these years. Her heart was sad and nothing or no one could dissipate the anguish she carried with her.

    1. The long awaited talk between them, still Bette was trying to avoid it but Tina didn’t give her the chance.

      I do understand Bette’s reasons to ghost Tina but on the other hand she was moving to be with Tina. So yes i understand Tina’s anger and heartbreak as well. She wasn’t giving the choice to help Bette.

      And now Bette is still struggling because of her own health, she denies herself the love she and Tina still have for each other. You can say it’s honorable of Bette to set Tina free to find someone who will love her and have a family with but Tina made it clear she only wants that with Bette, the love of her life.

        Yeah, Bette just can’t seem to help herself & wants to deny herself & Tina a chance at happiness once again due to the bleak outlook for her illness.

    2. Wow, so intense. Talk about stubborn – I just want to strangle Bette myself.

      I know she’s trying to protect Tina again, but give the lady a chance.

      Yet, I can detect cracks in Bette’s armor, hopefully Tina can poke some more holes in it.

        I have felt the same urges about Bette in certain instances in this story as well – you’re not alone in that.

        This was Bette’s last big stance so, we’ll see who has some influence over her & what direction they point her in the next chapter.

    3. Very powerful chapter. We indeed learned a lot.

      To me, Bette’s just scared bat shit crazy because of her undying love for Tina and once again, a missed opportunity for them to rekindle their relationship because of her illness. She doesn’t want to burden Tina again and she’s trying to protect TK as she thought she had done in the past.

      TK needs to just go after her and not stop until Bette tells her about her illness.

      I’m sure you have that all mapped out!!

    4. The heartache here for both Tina and Bette was so sad. They love each other so much, but Bette’s so stubborn in her quest to protect Tina that she’s hurting her more.

      I certainly hope she realizes this mistake and allows Tina back into her life.

      Loved this update! Loved Tina here, she was determined to get all the TRUTH out. Happy to see that Bette answered all Tina’s questions, and Tina made it clear she still loves Bette and wants to be with her. The next thing is for Tina to get all the answers about Bette’s health. Already looking forward to the next update.

      Tina has the heart of a lion and won’t give up on her love for Bette.

      Bette has to give herself a chance for happiness and face her illness with Tina by her side.

      At long last I have got around to re-reading your lovely story!
      It really is one of those I can’t put down. I’ve waited ages for you to continue this story! It’s been a hectic year for me and you by the sounds of it, but I am trying to catch up.

      This story is getting better and better! What a conundrum our couple are going through.
      Why, oh why did Bette just walk away all those years ago, didn’t she know she would have needed the support of the woman she has never stopped loving !
      Why didn’t Tina ever get on that plane….she must of read about the death of Bette’s father and brother and know Bette would have needed her?

      I’m supposing Bette’s illness is related to the China visit many years ago and hopefully her colleagues will find a curse for her to EVENTUALLY be with the woman she loves?

      It’s truly heartbreaking what our couple are going through right now, they both need to stop being so stubborn and open up with each other. The way you have written this chapter is exceptional, you really are with them, willing them one and feeling the emotion of their situation through your words.

      Don’t leave it to long to post! Take care of yourself and your wife ….. We are waiting for the next chapter !!

        Thank you so much for taking the time from your own busy schedule to comment. This novel for me has been a labor of love – both for Tibette & London, my favorite city.

        Yes, its a complicated story of hope, anguish & eternal love. Well, if Bette or Tina had actually seen each other again years ago, we wouldn’t have a story. Ha!!

        The story is definitely in the last quarter & a few chapters are left.

        And yes, you’re on the right track about the relationship with Bette’s work in China and her current illness.

        Yes, my wife is doing better & a big surgery coming up end of next month – so fingers crossed!
