Chapter 65: Lingering memories (Bette is reminiscing; Tina is feeling miserable)

It seems pretty mysterious considering that Elizabeth disappeared last October under mysterious circumstances and then reappeared again without providing any explanation. Her vanishing until this day remains an enigma and a rendezvous with a shadowy stranger only added to the mystery.’

As soon as Tina read this, her heart began beating harder than it was in the last two months after Bette left her. “It was my Bette,” Tina smiled, feeling her tears forming in her eyes, threatening to erupt at any moment. She looked around at her friends, “Don’t you see? Katie didn’t die because Bette helped her somehow.”

Alice scratched her head, “We do see it, Tina, and it’s amazing. I just hope it didn’t change anything in our time.” She turned to face Kit. “Call your son.”

    “Why?”

“Make sure he still exists.” Kit laughed at that statement but Alice was dead serious.

Kit shrugged and dialed her cell. She listened for a moment and then looked at Alice with worry, “The message said that the number I dialed is disconnected.”

    “Whaaaaat?” Alice shrieked in surprise.

Kit looked at the girls and winked, “I just got David’s voicemail.”

“Oh my God, Kit. You almost gave me a heart attack,” Alice theatrically fanned herself. “That was a good one. But seriously, if Bette changed things in the past, it can dramatically affect the future. Just watch for any changes in your lives, no matter how small and insignificant they might seem.”

    Early July 2006

Time was dragging for Tina. The discovery they made about Katie’s miraculous recovery made her happy and unsettled at the same time. She wanted so bad to be there with Bette, to know what she was doing, what she was thinking. Tina slept poorly and it was reflecting on her work. Something needed to be done but Tina felt like everything was spinning out of control and she was unable to stop it. It was worse than depression. It was despair.

Next morning after another sleepless night Tina was nursing her second cup of coffee, contemplating her life. “It’s time to take control,” she said loudly. “Making myself miserable won’t get Bette back any sooner.”

With triple-shot latte in her hand, Tina felt energized as she arrived at the studio ready to work on the new series and to get her mind of off Bette. She spent the next few weeks at the studio, working with the graphic designers on the storyboards and set designs. They shoot several promo spots and she met with Aaron and heads of the departments to discuss the project’s progress.
