Chapter 80 – Did You Just Out Your Girlfriend At Work?
“Hmm, then you’re probably right. But it sounds like your woman’s plan may have backfired if Aaron is willing to be railroaded into signing them. I’ve never seen him so hellbent on signing talent like this before.”
Tina shrugged as she was having the exact same thoughts. “Maybe he hasn’t gotten laid in so long that he thinks that Kit and the gang are his last hope of ever resuscitating his sex life.”
“Eww! Spare me the visuals, T!” Dana winced in disgust.
Tina smirked at her colleague’s display of repugnance. “Hey, what do you think he’s gonna say when I tell him I’ve been getting more ‘princess’ than he has?” Tina winked as she ribbed her friend a little more about their previous conversation.
“Judging from his comments to me just a minute ago? Something extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. Good luck with that douche.”

Law Offices of Joyce Wischnia
“I’m sorry Ms. Porter, Joyce, you know there is no way that Thrill City can agree to a contract like that.” Nadia Karella’s voice piped through the speakerphone.
“Aww. I’m really sorry to hear that, Nadia.”
“You know, maybe the band should talk to Jodi Lerner. She has a really great relationship with the executive heads over here and I’m sure she can persuade them to make some concessions and find some middle ground with the band.”
Joyce laughed at Nadia’s cluelessness and Bette rolled her eyes at the A&R rep wasting their time.
“You must misunderstand my role as the band’s legal counsel. Jodi Lerner knows nothing of contract law, nor what it takes to protect my clients’ interests in this business. I’m not interested in concessions, Nadia. All or nothing, plain and simple. But don’t worry, if you can only give nothing, we already have a label willing to give the band all.”
The frustrated sigh was audible over the speaker. “Joyce, you and Jodi could work this deal together…”
“Nadia, I’m only going to say this once so I will not have to repeat myself. I work in conjunction with no one. Jodi Lerner has no connection or authorization to make any deals, negotiate any contracts, or secure any performances on the part of this band. While I appreciate your efforts, they are all for naught.”
“Thrill City is a much better label than Alphaville. Tina Kennard doesn’t know what she’s doing over there, and quite frankly, you should be wary of her willingness to enter into such a contract as it reflects on her competence.”
Bette felt her body come alive with fury. No one talks about the woman I love like that, no one!
“I think we’re done here.” The brunette said firmly before reaching over and picking up the receiver then slamming it down hard, effectively hanging up on the dense label rep. She would not stand for anybody badmouthing Tina the way Nadia was.
“Thank you, Little P. God, that woman’s voice was grating on my last nerve.” Carmen said, running a hand through her long brown hair.
“Word.” Shane agreed.
“Okay, so where do we go from here?” Kit asked.
Joyce smiled, excited that her retainer would now be put to great use. “Let’s get your legal business entity created.” Joyce pulled out some more documents. “Okay, Porter sisters, it’s time to set up your limited liability company in Fierce Kitty Records.”

Very clever idea to start their own label. The Porter sisters really learned from their father’s past. With that move Bette even managed to surprise her beloved label whore Tina, huh? :-)
