Chapter XVIII – Empire State of Mind – Jules
She asked Diane, just before taking the piece of steak she’d sliced off, “Gold market? Funny she should ask about that. The guys who want to rent the bar out in several weeks are throwing this party for people I understand are big names in the gold market.” She dropped the juicy steak in her mouth as soon as she could.
Diane put her fork down, “You said you were seeing those guys on Friday, right?”
Jules nodded.
“Why don’t you tell Bette? Maybe she’ll be interested in talking to them, or may ask you to ask them a few things.”
Jules murmured, “ok.” It would be nice to do something for Bette, for a change. The brunette had always been there for Jules. If there was anything she could do, to help Bette, she’d do it.
Diane had polished off her lobster salad, in the meantime. She raised her head to catch the eye of the waiter, who walked over quickly. Diane smiled at him and asked, “Can I have another one of that French 57?”
“Most certainly, miss. Are you done with your lobster?”
Diane nodded. As he was clearing her plate, Jules had finished her steak off with an audible sigh.
“How as everything miss?” the waiter asked Jules, reaching over to clear her plate as well.
“Perfect,” Jules answered, with a satisfied smile.
“Can I also refresh your drink?”
Jules glanced over at Diane, who was fixing her with a warm smile. She felt a tingle deep down inside.
She turned to the waiter and said, “Actually, I’ll have what she’s having.”
The French 57 was one of the Bar’s signature cocktails. To make it they poured Plymouth gin in a cocktail shaker and shook it with freshly squeezed lemon juice. After that, they topped the drink with brut Champagne. It was a classic Manhattan cocktail.
As the waiter left, Jules and Diane locked eyes. Diane smiled slowly as she remembered what Jules had whispered in her ear when they’d first eaten in this restaurant during their second “date.” Jules had whispered, “Whatever this is between us … is not just an attraction.”
Diane had whispered back, brushing her fingers over Jules’ hand resting on the table “No … no, it isn’t. But I’ve never done this before. So I don’t know what to feel. How to act.”

Thanks for the update….I feel the drama coming for Jules & Dianne.
Affair, assault which one I don’t know …… quite possible not either of
my scenarios, but I smell drama……
Enjoyed it. Thanks
I enjoy learning more about Jules and Diane. They are a nice addition to the Tibette story. I look forward to seeing more of these lovely ladies. And Krav Maga is totally hot! Who doesn’t love a beautiful woman who can kick ass?
I think it would be a good idea of Tom being the donor, with bette eggs, but with Tina carrying the child.
This was a good chapter as usual.
Thats not a bad idea Tom being a donor along with Bette’s egg and Tina is the surrogate. Problem is Tom a good guy??
If I am not mistaken, I read in the previous chapter that Bette and Tina did their homework in doing background checks on Tom, plus after meeting his family and having lunch with them I think solidify their decision.
Yes they did their background check. How is that they never found out about Tom’s family. Than for Bette to find out that Tom’s mother may have been an agent and a mathematical genius? Convienent for Bette to get those number deciphered.
I like the idea of Tom’s sperm and Bette’s egg with Tina being the birth mom. That way the kid will still be bi-racial, and also gets some good Bette genes in there!
Naysssssszzzzzz. ( Fistbumps all around.) thanks everyone.
Time to dance, I think.
