    Chapter3.

To say that I couldn’t sing to save my life was a severe understatement. To top it off Lizzie decided to get more than a little friendly with the DJ, who was aptly named Tommy T. I didn’t want to mention the fact that when I was a baby my parents had brought me several Tommy T pieces of merchandise. Whether Lizzies Tommy T was also an abbreviation for Tommy Tucker and he was in fact a panda, I didnt bother to ask.

    Trix, you ready?

Lizzie poked her head round my door, I was just adding the finishing touches to my hair.

Woah Trix, now if you don’t pull tonight I will personally join you in your future of living with hundreds of cats and becoming at least twenty stone. Because if not one guy approaches you then I would have lost all hope in the species. she said, disappearing again behind the door.

I smiled, looking back at my reflection in the mirror. I had to admit I didn’t look too bad, when I put some effort into it I could look respectfully attractive.

The club was called Anathema. From the outside it looked like a cafe, large floor to ceiling windows with a few tables and chairs outside. The name of the place was subtly painted on a board above the door, white, blue and green colours decorated the outside. Something I would of expected to see at a quaint restaurant by the beach, rather than a night club.

Blue light shone through the windows, the heat within manifested as perspiration dripping down the panes of glass. A steady and consistent beat reverberated through the surrounding area, enticing people to take notice to the club. So innocently set amongst the small and pleasant shops that, when they were open, probably sold souvenirs, postcards and hats with witty remarks printed on them that no one would actually wear anywhere other than when on holiday, but still brought them non the less.

Lizzie turned to me and grinned, I couldn’t tell whether she was genuinely excited or if the half a pint of Dooleys shed drank before we left was finally merging into her blood stream.*

We are going to have such a good night! she exclaimed, pulling me into the doors as she took my arm in hers.

I laughed and followed her in, not really paying attention to the type of people which were populating the club. In fact it was kind of hard to tell one body from another, as it was so busy.

Come on lets get a drink! Lizzie called over her shoulder.

As we waited at the bar, Lizzie was automatically distracted by the Latino looking bar man and from then on was trying desperately to get his attention. I leant back against the bar and took a look around, at first not noticing the diversity of people which seemed to be dancing, drinking and laughing.
My attention was drawn to a particular group of women by the pool table, they were watching another group of women play pool and I guessed they mustve known each other. The smiles and glances exchanged between the two groups were electric with hidden meaning and subtle suggestion. I was captivated, they only had eyes for one another, no one that approached the attractive group was even given the time of day. As the pool game came to an end my eyes fell on another gathering of people, but this time they were a selection of men and women. Much to my relief because if Lizzie had brought me to a ***** bar, intentionally or non-intentionally I would of had to start having words about these surprise nights which she kept arranging for me.
