    Constellations: Chapter 13- Technology Sucks!

    Chapter 13- Technology Sucks!

Alex woke up the next morning to her parents asleep next to her. She smiled. She kept her sore arm cradled close to her body as she used her other one to pull herself up so she could lean against the headboard. She took a deep breath, loving the feeling of almost being back to normal. Sleep had done her very well, the pain was lower and she felt more energized. She looked around, trying to find something to keep her occupied. She found a pen and some paper on the nightstand. Thank God it was to her left. She reached out with her good arm and grabbed it. Then she thought to herself Shit! How the hell am I gonna write with my fucking left hand? Oh well, I guess I’ll find something better to do. She looked over at her wrists and saw the stitches. Oooo, let’s find out how many stitches I got. She counted them up on each of her wrists, then felt the ones out on her face. Then she lifted her shirt just above her abdomen and counted those, until she heard her Madre yawn.

Carmen: *Yawn* What are you doing?

Alex: Oh umm, counting my stitches.

    Carmen: How many?

Alex: I counted 57, but I didn’t get to the ones on my ankles.

Carmen: How can you keep being so selfless? I mean, don’t you ever think about yourself first?

Alex: It’s just me. I guess It’s just something in me, the need to keep the people I love safe.

Carmen: But what about yourself, don’t you have to keep yourself safe?

Alex: As long as by putting myself at risk, I am helping someone in someway and no one else is in danger, then no, I don’t think about myself.

    Carmen: You are truly amazing!

A knock was heard on the door and they both looked to see Alice peek her head in.

    Alice: Good morning.

    Alex went completely silent.

    Carmen: Hey Al!

Alice walked in and handed Carmen a coffee and a big brown bag. She then set down a back pack next to the bathroom door. Carmen opened the bag and pulled out three containers full of food.

    2. Oh my god I thought for a second that there was a mix-up with Carmen’s baby too….oh so disappointed when there wasn’t……it’s just so sad….Hope they’ll all be alright though!

    3. awww see. THIS is what i like to see. good things happening. hopefully things get better and better and alex can work through everything. shane and carmen are so supportive. alex is not pregnant…there goes my theories! i hope she can work on things with alice..its really sad. update soon! this was great!

    4. As sad as it is, I kind of like that Alex won’t let Alice back in, I think it makes the story more believable. Now something I don’t get is why Shane didn’t deck the dr right there when he said he had mixed up the ultra sounds earlier. I’d be pissed! but also relieved I guess that Alex wasn’t pregnant. Awesome update!! Keep it up!
