Carmen: Alex, we think that it would be good for you to see someone. Someone you can talk to who knows what they’re doing. Honey, your mother and I, we’ve tried but this is as far as we can go, you need more than this to recover from what happened.
Alex: You want me to see a shrink?
Carmen: We think that you could benefit from it.
Alex: Whatever.
She got up and walked to her room then shut the door. Carmen looked towards Shane.
Shane: I’ll be right back.
Shane got up and walked down the hall. She knocked on Alex’s door. When she got no response, she walked in. She saw Alex on her bed, knees to her chest, face in her arm and Shane could hear the sobs. She slowly shut the door and walked over. She sat down on the bed and looked over at her teenaged daughter.
Alex briefly looked up. She hiccupped a couple times before her mother flung her arms around her. Alex shoved her head so far into her mother’s shoulder and her good arm under her arm and clutched her shoulder.
Shane: The shrink was my idea… I just want what’s best for you.
Alex: I thought you wanted to be there for me.
Shane pulled away and looked at her daughter.
Shane: Honey, I do, and I will but you need more than me right now. This is way out of my league. I need to make sure you’re okay.
Alex nodded.
Shane: I need the old Alex back. Damn her and I had a good time!
Alex smiled. Shane missed that, it was one of her best qualities and when Shane brought that smiled to her daughter’s face, she knew she had done something right.
Alex: I’m so sick of being lost mom.
Shane: We’ll take care of that.
Alex then went back to the hug and stayed in the warmth for a while. Shane rubbed her back gently. Shane then gently pulled away.
Shane: There’s something I need to talk to you about.
Alex whipped her eyes.
Alex: What?
