“Is this right? This can’t be right.”

    “It is,” James exploded.

    “This can’t be right.”

    “It is,” James nearly squealed.

    “Don’t fuck with me, James.”

They both knew James would never fuck with Bette before and especially not after what happened at Family Sunday. James wouldn’t dare.

“I ran the numbers and tallied the receipts three times, Bette.”

“No fucking way! Every piece from The Answer is Love has been sold. Already?”

“Yep. We sold a lot at the opening and the Artist Dinner. The website is updated live. The rest of the pieces were purchased yesterday.”

Bette kept looking at the spreadsheet as James spoke. She knew all of KiKi’s pieces were going to sell. She just didn’t think they would be sold out in two and a half days.

    “There’s more.”

James couldn’t contain himself. Not only didn’t he get fired but he was about to give Bette the best news ever.

    “More?”

    James nodded enthusiastically.

“Well, what is it for fuck’s sake?”

James handed her another spreadsheet. Bette’s eyes got even bigger.

Forgiveness is in a bidding war. Someone offered $2 million for it.”

Bette started to smile when she remembered KiKi said it wasn’t for sale. James read Bette’s mind.

“I know what KiKi said. And I’ve been thinking about that Bette. Since I didn’t get much sleep last night.”

They both knew why he wasn’t able to sleep.

“KiKi doesn’t want to sell Forgiveness but what if we suggest she rent it out. Galleries all around the world have shown interest. The original can go wherever KiKi wants it to go. We can make a select number of prints. An off number like 37 or something random. We could sell the prints at a ridiculous amount of money and lease out the original to the galleries. Everybody wins. Boom!” James exhaled as he fired off his finger guns.

Bette couldn’t help but laugh.  She rolled her eyes. James still had his finger guns pointed at Bette

“That’s intriguing, James. Let me think about it. But that is a very interesting way to frame this for KiKi. Maybe you should betray me again and see what else you can come up with.”

James looked down. When he looked back up, Bette had a smirk on her face.
