Discovering Aphrodite
Chapter 12
Bette’s long strokes took her up and down the pool numerous times. Her chest felt tight as her breathing concentrated on the physical strokes. She needed these minutes concentrating on moving through the water as fast as she could, to try and rid herself of the knotting in her stomach at their conversation.
She didn’t know what to say about it all, she was looking for a lead from Tina. They hadn’t talked too much about their home life, just odd snippets on the why’s and wherefore’s of holidaying alone. She knew nothing of Tina’s home life, her personal life or her work life. Was that a sensible decision or should they have laid it on the line at the very beginning?
It was all just so confusing, but they did have options. Options she would lay out to Tina when she finished her swim and relaxed back on the lounger. There was no escaping it. They had to have the conversation.
Bette’s strokes became methodical as her body rolled slightly with each arm reaching further in front of her, rolling from one side to the other as the metres in the pool passed by quickly. She felt like she was having one of her morning swims at home where she would just pump away with as many lengths of the pool as she could in the thirty minutes she allowed herself.
She knew it was time to ease up as her chest began to feel tight. The controlled breathing beginning to take its toll as she tried hard to swim without allowing her mind to wander.
As she slowed up her senses told her the edge of the pool was close by so she lifted her head slightly, eyeing around her for their loungers and the point to which she would lift herself from the pool.
Her hands braced the side of the pool as her body lifted effortlessly from the water. Her black bikini shone in the bright sun light as the water clung dangerously to the clinging material.
Everyone who sat around the pool at that very moment stopped momentarily, as if in slow motion, every eye appraised the view of Bette exiting from the water. She ran her hands over her hair, grabbing the back slightly to wring the water from the curls as it cascaded along her back.

Hey Jo, that is the second good thing to have happened to me today! Progress on a special project and a post from you! 2500 miles is a great distance indeed that will mean stretching those heart strings a great deal! This is tugging at mine already! Mind you for BP I’d swim the distance …… Thank you for posting! :0)
Thank you for posting another chapter. Now they just have to figure out what they are going to do about the distance. It’s not so bad. :) I look forward to more.

Hey now, I thought Ally was the drama queen!! You’ve been spending way too much time with her! ;) And yet, I love this chapter! Thanks so much for coming back and resuming this wonderful story… Hi, my name is Kword75, and I HAD been several months without a Jobadge dose! But today I succumbed again and I am now back to being a Jobaddict! Please, I need more!…

oh man, it’s far…sounds like my life, i hate long distance…let’s hope they can manage to get closer….so glad to see you posting :)
Awww I was hoping that they would both be southern California girls. :(
Hey ;)loving the update…and loving that your writing again…always worth the wait. catch ya soon x
Had to go back and read from the beginning as something tells me that Tina is holding back an important piece of information. I get the feeling that Richmond is not truly where she lives… maybe she’s there for a limited time?? Can’t wait to see where you take this. Fantastic reading!
The way Tina was stumbling over telling Bette of her hometown sounds like she lives somewhere else or is moving to a different town. Maybe she is waiting for Bette to commit before she tells her the real story? PPVS
Say it ain’t so, Jo. Is it too late to give one or both of them superpowers? You know, like Superman. Let ’em fly!
Well bummer, I don’t think that is one of those lets have coffee distances, but more like holiday distances. Ummm, maybe a move is in the future for one of our fair ladies.
Yea–You came back with it! I was so glad to see you were resuming this story! Can’t wait for the next post!
In my diluted romantic brain I thought they would both say California, but no – would have been too easy. Looking forward to their solution and your next post.
Thank you for another amazing update. Love this story but did they need to live so far away from each other. Thank you again love your writing.
I m hoping for a happy end.So glad you are back.Thank you for the update.
