    Epilogue

The beach in Nyali was another world, open, salt-washed, humming softly with the breath of the sea. The sky was pale blue and wide, cloudless but not harsh. The sun had only just climbed clear of the horizon, and its light made everything shimmer: the sand like sifted gold beneath Bette’s bare feet, the gentle water curling in translucent ribbons along the shore.

The air here was fresh and full of life. It clung cool to her skin, so different from the dry heat and scorched wind of the sanctuary. The breeze carried no smoke. No ash. Just salt, faintly sweet, and something greenish blue in the distance.

Bette walked slowly, unevenly, her weight slightly favouring her right side. Her left calf was bandaged where the fire had caught her… Chang’s fire and the white gauze peeked out just below the rolled cuff of her linen trousers.

Both arms were scraped and reddened, the skin raw but healing. Her left wrist was wrapped too, from a fall in the mud, and there were bruises blooming dark along her ribs where the water had thrown her and debris had used her like a willing punchbag.

She looked like she had been through a war, and in a way, she had.

Up ahead, Tina stood at the edge of the tide.

She was wearing a simple sarong tied high under her arms, the soft cotton clinging gently to her curves before loosening at the thigh, where it shifted with each breeze to reveal glimpses of a white two-piece bathing suit beneath. The bikini top peeked through at the neckline, and when she moved, the slit at the front of the sarong parted just enough to show long, bronzed legs that caught the morning light like warm honey.

Her skin glowed with salt and sun, and a delicate gold chain rested at her ankle, catching the sun with each step. She looked timeless, like beauty shaped by warmth and wind. Her hair was piled loosely on top of her head, tendrils dancing in the breeze. She stood relaxed, watching the water roll in and out, toes digging gently into the shifting sand.

Bette hesitated a moment, taking her in, this image of calm, of resilience, of everything that still felt far away and then she moved forward.

    1. Wow, what a ride…. While am greatly saddened to read that this is the last ever instalment of this saga am also endlessly grateful for this story. I am greedy like that you see and like someone else said on this board I could go on reading this story forever.
I’ve read a lot of Tibette fanfic over the years and this is way way at the top of the list of the very best. It’s not only the love story which am ALWAYS there for it’s the exquisite writing and the description of this unique universe that makes you feel like you’re right there with them. So I want to thank you for sharing this I can only imagine how time consuming writing a story like this is. I am very grateful for all the time and work that obviously went into it.

PS: I will be secretly hoping that you get inspired and write an epilogue to the epilogue…. Or who knows a 57 part followup…. Savannah the reconstruction? Am here for it lol

      • I couldn’t agree more! Thank you for this wonderful AU adventure – from the first moments with Bette and Augustine and Tina arriving at Helena’s resort to the last Tibette-moment in this epilogue. Your writing is outstanding. With every installment you brought the beauty of Kenya with its nature, wildlife, people and culture closer to me.
It has everything: a great, elaborate, gripping plot, interesting supporting characters and lots of Tina & Bette romance.

For me your stories – Savannah especially – are the ones I always go back to when I need a good Bette & Tina fanfic fix. I’m sad to see this series end but on the other hand: congratulation to you for putting an end to it! For me as a ff writer way back when it was the hardest part to finish a story, to decide that I have nothing more to tell.

Like BTA I’m hoping that you’ll find the inspiration and the time to post an afterthought. Or finish any Tibette story you might store on your harddrive.
Thanks again, Kins, for sharing your work with us.

    2. This story was great just like the others!!! Glad it all ended well, sad to see the end. Hoping you continue to write more tibette stories.
