Fée Marraine: A Fairy Tale in Four Parts (4)
“I knew she was wealthy, but my word, I had no idea. This place is right out of a fairy tale,” Tina said. Her eyes were wide and she was craning her neck to look out each side of the limousine at the landscaping surrounding them.
They came to a stop and now waited for their turn to pull into the semi-circular drive, right in front of the enormously tall and wide entry doors, which were graced with white ornate columns. Attendants stood on either side of the door, while others motioned each car after another forward, where they’d swarm the vehicle and open doors for the guests. A deep, plush red carpet had been run from the driveway to the door, partitioned off with red velvet ropes. On the other side of those ropes, two dozen paparazzi stood with cameras and video equipment. Spotlights were shining, flashbulbs were flashing, and a din of shouted questions and commotion surrounded the carpeted area.
“Oh shit,” Tina said softly when she saw the red carpet chaos. “Gabby was right. There are reporters here.”
“Why do they care about a bunch of unknown writers?” Max asked as he pulled up a bit more. In a few more seconds their car would be next.
“Beats me,” Tina said. “None of this makes much sense.”
“It’s part of the show, I guess,” Gus added. He patted Tina’s thigh. “But no worries, lady. You look wonderful and you deserve the red carpet treatment.”
Tina laughed. “I rather doubt that.”
Shane pointed to the crowd. “He’s right. It’s part of the show. From everything I’ve read, Helena Peabody is all about image.”
Now Max pulled into the circular drive and stopped the car. He turned in his seat. “I’ll park and come find you guys inside.”
Just then two attendants, dressed in similar black blazers as the security detail, opened the passenger doors. Gus slipped out and Shane joined him quickly. The two of them stood flanking the door and waited for Tina.
When she didn’t emerge, Gus leaned down and looked in. “Hey princess, you’re subjects are waiting.”
“I can’t. I…this…I don’t know, guys, maybe this isn’t my thing,” Tina stuttered. She looked scared witless.
Shane bent down now. “Tina, it’s okay. Gus and me are here and soon Max will join us.”

I know I’m two weeks late. Bad BenMac, bad girl! And I realize this chapter should have been broken into two chapters. But four is a factor of eight and eight is my special number. Also, I had this cool graphic I found on Twitter of Cinderella dancing with a princess, but I’m not skilled like Blackbird and don’t know how to upload it to the story. Bummer.
Anyway, this was fun to write and light and sweet with no tears. I have a single chapter short story that is soul crushing, but Dainty told me not to post it ’cause you all would storm my house if I posted a sad TiBette tale with a devastating ending. So I guess I’ll start to work on either the crime detective or high fantasy (both with happy endings!). I’m trying my hand at many genres so I can learn from them. And the zombies are still lurking somewhere in my notes.
Thanks for reading and commenting and tweeting and emailing and sending me good thoughts and vibes.
xoxo,
BenMac

2 weeks late – what’s 2 weeks! I’m sure I speak for many when I say I don’t mind waiting to read stories such as this written by you.
Thank you for this and all your other previous stories particularly, Bette’s 2nd Grade Crush, The Groves and , of course, the eternal rocks… You make me laugh, you make me cry, you scare me but most of all you entertain me.
I’m glad you did not split this into two Chapters, you spared us a wait for the next part. This was a great story to wake up to here in the UK and you’ve got my day off to a wonderful start, so, again, Thank You.
Loved the link to the Song and don’t worry about not linking to a photo. I bet Blackbird would be pleased to help though. You 2 are like *Diamonds in the Sky* of Writers.
Can’t handle a Tibette story with a devastating end Ben but look forward to the other *gems* from your pen be they detectives or zombies!
Happy Holidays Ben and look forward to your next post, I really did *Enjoy*!

SassyGran, i loved your comment! Not for the first time, i am gonna steal it from you; ).
BenMac, i don’t care how long we have to wait for you, you are one of the best writers and so worth waiting for.
And please only post sad B&T stories when there will be a happy ending.
I wish you a great holiday.

Steal away Bibi, steal away!!!

Fantastic chapter. Happy they did get together and undoubtedly will have a happy life together along with little Tinas’ and little Bettes running around. It was indeed a modern day fairy tale. I can imagine the three ugly roommates reactions when Tina won the award. Good for them for the way they treated her. Take care, hope you and family have a wonderful holiday season. See you next year. Thanks for sharing the story with us.

Thank you for posting again another extraordinary story. When I see you posted I am always exited to read any new chapter of your stories. You really have me intrigued with your comment about the short story and perhaps you could post it under the topic of ‘creative writing’ so as not to have your house being stormed. Anyway thank you again for posting this story and I am looking forward to any new story you decide to post.

I loved this story, but it came as no surprise since I love everything you write! And it also made me reread H+, one of my all time favorites, right up there with The Groves. I’ll be looking forward to reading your future stories, I hope we will eventually see both the crime detective and the high fantasy. It is just a joy to see a new post from you and to read that you intend to keep writing. It will bring great happiness to me – and to all the readers, I’m sure – to see you gifting us with your amazing talent for years to come.

I lost track of what you write about.
you’re my favorite author, because if I remember correctly
was for you that I stopped being a silent reader.
I love all his works, is that you know that I love
the “eternal rocks”, I told this story
deserves to be published in a book with night
autograph, but today is not the eternal rocks, but
your new story. I have not read or are reading now.
I want to do for tomorrow when I get home from work
knowing that I will have a wonderful story waiting for me.
When I finish reading tomorrow I’ll do my comment.
Good rest, and I will await your return.
love you
All the stars for you.
Note: sorry my English.

That was absolute perfection. You my dear never disappoint. I know most of us want a happy ending for TiBette, but a sad story is okay to read, as long as it is not a story where they are cheating on one another, I can handle one of death and loss, it is a natural part of life, as long as there is some love and happiness before the sadness.

Finally managed to read this story
enchanted, loved it!
I will not praise you, all right! you
is fantastic !!!! my favorite writer.
This time you do not take my tears, as
made me the eternal rocks (my favorite), but I traveled
to the enchanted world, with this modern history;
Cinderella, and you gave us a message
even with this digital age modern world, we can not
forget to be good with people greet
the input or output, and have a clean conduct.
All the stars for you.
Note: I had problems to complete and finish this story to
everything wrong that happened to me since 25, the provider
my internet has given cart when I was halfway
history, boom! be without internet again, and was now
finish with no problem.

My apologies for the belated reply…I haven’t been around much these last several months, but I just caught up with this one and wanted to comment on how spectacular a tale it has been. Cinderella was always my Disney favorite as a child. Also, I enjoyed seeing the earring plot make it into this story. It was a touching throwback to the show. I would ask if that was intentional, but after reading all of your stories, I don’t suppose I have to raise that question as your writing is always filled with thoughtful allusions.
