Forged in Fire: Chapter 12

Tina nodded. “Now I understand. That must have been overwhelming for you.”
“It was. It pushed me off-balance.”
“Maybe he’s making up for lost time. Maybe with the accident, he wants to make amends,” Tina offered.
“I’m sure he does.”
Tina asked. “Are you ready to forgive him?”
Bette stared down at her plate and gave her girlfriend’s question serious consideration. “Baby, I really don’t know how to answer that.”
“Why?”
Bette shrugged. “Because…I don’t know just what really deserves forgiveness. Yes, he didn’t acknowledge my relationship. But you know, he never left me, Tina. He was there if I needed him. Would his acceptance have been nice? Hell yes. But has he done anything that needs forgiveness? As though he really fucked up in a major way? I….I don’t know how I feel about that.”
“Well, I can see that you’re still a little angry with him,” said Tina.
“I guess I am. I try not to acknowledge it. Some people really had a hard life. I didn’t. My mother left, but Daddy…Daddy was my guiding light,” said Bette.
Tina nodded, her eyes watering. “I know how that feels. I loved my father. But Babe, you have to either deal with your anger or let it go. If you don’t think he deserves it, then let it go. I can see that it bothers you. Like a tag in a pair of panties.”
Bette smiled and kissed Tina’s forehead. “Tag in a pair of panties?”
Tina nodded again. “Yeah. You know. You might have bought this really cute, really sexy pair of panties. You forget to take the tag out. And then bam…out of the blue you get this scratchy, itchy bite from the tag. Like you’re okay most of the time. But when it bites…it’s just so fucking irritating.”
Bette held Tina’s hands in her own. “You make the best analogies.”
“I do?”
Bette kissed her lips, softly and with tenderness. “Yes, you do.”
Tina held her girlfriend’s gaze, feeling safe and loved in the dark chocolate orbs. She felt a tremor of excitement flit through her. “Thank you for sharing with me,” said Tina.
Bette kissed her once again; longer this time. Her eyes were shining when she looked at Tina. “Thank you for asking.”

Good chapter – Bette tells Tina about her mom. Kit comes home and Dylan goes home. Kit and Bette talk about Melvin which is helpful to Bette and even though Tina is working late, they connect and plan for a more normal life in the near future. Time to start thinking about the future….
Thanks for the chapter… its a good to have some entertainment, and exercising one’s imagination is one of the best.
Thanks for the Chapter, just what I needed to help with the Pandemicking (great word much better than Isolation!)
Look forward to more of your storytelling to keep me relatively sane and much happier.
Stay safe

I’m with SG, pandemicking – great! I love your calender, MTS. You really lose the feeling for date and time these days. If there hadn’t been my bday, I’d say it’s Mar-pril 56th.
And yes, your story does keep me sane as well. What a nice journey my mind can go to :-)
I’m wondering whether Bette in this dimension will try to contact her mother. Bette’s relationship to Melvin doesn’t seem as stressed as it was in her other reality but it would be interesting if she wants to know the reasons for her mother’s affair and leaving without her daughter.
So happy that Tina is making changes at work. That proves that she took their talks to heart and puts more focus on her private life. A vacation sounds like a very good idea. They need some uninterrupted time together now that it’s only the two of them again.
Thank you for another “soul-feeding” chapter :-)
stay healthy
cheers
