    Alice
idly looked at her fingernails, she needed to have a fill she thought as she
waited for her editor to finish.  Every
second or so he seemed to grunt, Alice
took that as a good sign.

When he finally lifted his head to look at Alice she saw something she didn’t often see
from him.  Admiration.  This look quickly changed as he became her
boss once again.  “You checked and double
    checked these facts?” he barked.

    “Yes I triple checked them.
I even have more verification that I didn’t use if you want it.” Alice confidently replied.

“Great then we are running with this front page.  Now get out of my office I have work to
do.”  Just as Alice was about to exit the door she hears
“Great job”.  Alice stops dead in her tracks when she hears
this.  It puts a smile on her face,
savoring the moment, she heads back to her desk.

Peggy’s flight was just landing in LAX.  She had to resort to a commercial carrier due
to the last minute nature of her trip.
She was wading through the masses looking for her driver when her cell
phone went off.  Stopping to retrieve her
call Peggy didn’t recognize the number.

    “Hello”

“Hello Peggy this is Harry.” Peggy’s attorney greeted her
    grimly.

“Oh Harry, darling I didn’t recognize your number.  You don’t sound too pleased.”

    “Peggy I have bad news.
If you are near a television turn it on to CNN.”

“I’m at the LAX currently so just tell me what’s going on.”
Peggy is a little over the drama.

“Right.” Harry says and then takes a deep breath and
launches into it “Peggy the San Francisco DA is currently having a press
conference which is being picked up by CNN and probably carried
nationwide.  He is indicting Helena on four counts of
fraud, three counts of willful disregard for public entity and a few other
issues which I don’t think will stick.”
When Harry was done talking he waited for Peggy’s response.  After a long pause of nothing “Peggy are you
    still there?”

    “Yes Harry I’m here.
We are too late.  Damn.” Peggy
says trying to calculate how she can extract Helena out of this mess.  “Harry I need you to fly out here immediately
    we need to extract Helena
out of this mess and see what kind of restitution will make these charges go
    away.”

“Peggy you know I will be there as soon as humanly possible
but from the looks of things, it looks like they went hunting for Helena.  She is the target of an investigation.  You know as well as I do this is just too
juicy for the DA to walk away from willingly.
There will be things that need to be done to make this one go away.”
    Harry warned Peggy.

Peggy again felt her age as she stood in this middle of this
busy airport with people bumping her and her mission dubious and her success
unlikely.  “Yes Harry I am aware.  Just do what you can.”

    1. I have thoroughly enjoyed and savored every chapter, especially towards the end. I post regularly just to let you know how consistently outstanding, satisfying and deliciously well planned this story has been. I look forward to reading whatever comes next and please take a well deserved bow.

    2. As much as I dislike Helena, I’m glad you have Peggy caring enough to extract Helena from the mess. Of course, it could be to protect the Peabody Foundation, but at the same time, she is still her daughter and Peggy may consider it her fault that Helena is the way she is. Isn’t there a saying “do as I say, not as I do” but usually we mirror the doing and not doing the saying. Am I even making sense on this wonderful Saturday morning? Football coming up shortly. Horray! Thanks…can’t wait for Sunday….two post?!?

    3. Wow the excitment is buildind so fast im reading it like it was an NC17..lol (i read those real fast lol)I loved that poor Peggy had to travel commuter class…welcome to our world Peg! well that was great and your wrapping it up so beautifully…so the moment of truth is coming with the photos and whos in em!!!lol love it… god help me i almost feel sorry for Helena i think id take my chances with the DA as opposed to Peggy…

    4. Can’t wait to see what Peggy has to pull to get Helena out of the mess she’s created. A mother’s protective instinct is to of course to rescue the child. Will Peggy really extricate Helena from the DA’s vice or will Peggy serve Helena up to the DA in return for a lesser charge? Looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks, J.

    5. Love the way you’re folding up the story. Jwet, this has been so great, and with this story wrapping up, I do hope that you’re inspired soon to take us on another journey with Bette and Tina. For me personally, as long as there’s you, Skipton and Seahurst, tibetters the world over will thrive, despite what IC is rumoured to be doing to the characters.Thank you so much.

    6. Nah nah nah Helena yee ha. Now I have the fan fiction gun after shooting gracie from laurelite I am now aiming at your Helena. I know i say this all the time but fantastic chapter as always

    7. gerrie7 says it so well…..I know it has to come to an end but it makes me sad. I do look forward to new story from you though….I am sure it will be just as amazing, my friend.

    8. SHSL on the stand, would that be of a pedestal design? I thought so!! She’ll look soooo good – lets hope she says all she needs to say for her beloved to know how much she means to her! Oh and to whip the HELLamster’s fucking arse while she’s up there.

    9. i’ve just read 2 chaps, as always with a great pleasure. of course I feel sad that tomorrow this story ends (btw, great timing with s3 start). on the other hand I can hardly wait for Bette’s testimony. I can be wrong but think that’s how T finally will hear about the delivery room.that’s the moment I’ve been waiting for a very long time.

    10. They say the best things in life are free. While I don’t have a beef with Peggy, I’m glad you had events move too quickly for her to use her wealth to pull strings and save Helena’s skanky ass from the fire.

    11. This reads so realistically unlike other fanfic that can sometimes be cartoonish. The dialogue is spot on in tone and word for each character. It all speaks to your skill as a writer. gerrie7 is correct.

    12. You’ve done such a great job weaving this story together. I do hope you decide to start on a new one once this wraps up…thanks for writing.

    13. Exactly what I needed before heading to work today (I’ll probably be late now, but so worth it). I LOVE the heart you put into this story and wish it did not have to end!

    14. the dragon is going down and i’m happy because in your story she’s is a toal snake…but i’m sad the story is almost over…i loved every bit of it

    15. I will probably let slam dunked for saying this but, I almost feel sorry for Helena. She is such a tragic figure of a human being, one has to wonder just what kind of a mother Peggy was or is, that would affect her child is such a negative way. Whatever it was had to have been horrible to have a child want to bring you to your knees. Helena is much like a shoplifter, taking things she doesn’t need, or can’t afford, just to fulfill some deep emotional need.

    16. It has been absolutely delicious to read. And, it has been so well thought out from the very first word, that it doesn’t surprise me at all that after posting over 150 chapters, you would time it to end on the premiere of Season 3. Take a bow, pat yourself on the back, because you totally deserve it! BTW, I actually feel sorry for Peggy…she always just wants to do right, by her community as well as by her daughter when she put her in charge of the foundation.

    17. so you are saying all our worries are over Bette and Tina will triumph and there will be no more drama that causes trauma for these two?? OK I believe you because you have written such a dazzling story – what a journey. thanks.
