    Chapter 24 – Bette Makes Dinner

    With Tina feeling like she had walked into some twilight zone, she handed Bette Anna and went to freshen up for dinner. Coming back into the kitchen after trading her suite for a pair of jeans and t top, Tina walked up to Bette feeling more like herself. Hey Bette this all looks so lovely. Are you joining me for dinner?

    Well thats up to you. My plan was to serve you dinner and then make my way home but if youre game I would love to stay. But really dont feel obligated. I just wanted you to come home and not have a million and one things to do before you got a chance to relax. Bette explains but her heart is warmed by the broad smile on Tinas face.

    No I think that you should be rewarded for all you hard work. After all it looks like you have enough here for an army. So Bette join us will you? Tina says as she looks to Anna who is still smiling at her Mom. But Bette let me put Anna down for the night.

    With that Tina sits down to dinner and Bette serves her and then joins in. The conversation was light with Bette asking Tina about her day and just listening to her replies. As the dinner came to a close, Bette got up and carried away all the dishes. Coming back in with coffee, Bette asks Tina if she would be more comfortable in the living room. Retiring to the living room they each sit down and the conversation is as easy as it was during dinner.

    I never would have guessed that I missed work but after I had gotten back into the swing today I can honestly say I missed it. Tina was telling Bette.

    You must get real satisfaction out of it to have missed it then. Bette comments.

    I dont know I just think I have such fun opportunities coming up that I am really excited about jumping into them. Tina says as an idea hits her.

    Hey Bette would you mind babysitting for me a few evenings a week for a couple of weeks? Tina asks Bette out of the blue.

    Ah no .. I think today went well and I probably could handle it. Ahh do you have a date or something? Bette asks.

    No, it not a date. I just have this great opportunity to work with this woman and we are going to have to do it after hours thats all. So yes you think youre game? Tina wants to set this misconception straight.

    Sure I would love to help out. Just let me know when and I will be here. Bette says liking the way this is going.

    They actually talked, really talked for the first time in a year. The two talked about all sorts of things that had nothing to do with their past or their future. The whole evening was easy and pleasant. Tina was talking about the little things Anna does now that surprises her when a large yawn descended upon her.

    Oh my gosh, what am I doing you must be exhausted. Let me get out of here. Bette says suddenly realizing that Tina was tired. Peaking into Annas room one more time to see her sleeping beauty, Bette made her way out feeling good that she had made Tinas life a little easier today.

    Thanks for tonight, Tina. Bette says as she is walking out the front door.

    No thank you Bette for everything. Tina immediately responds a little mad that her body was letting her down as the evening had been perfect.

    3. Loved this chapter. It would be nice for Bette to step back and allow Tina to take on the dominant role while she “takes care” of Tina. It would be a refreshing change for their relationship if they switch roles for a while on the show to gain better perspective on their relationship.

      No sure what other plaudits I can extol on you. A truly wonderful, heartfelt story that just leaves me in awe of your talent. My highlight of the day is seeing another chapter posted. I know that each one gives such sweet satisfaction to the reader. An uplifting saga.

      Agree with everyone that Tina and Bette need to reconnect soon as all the pieces are falling into place though I am sure you will have a few surprises for us all.
