    Chapter 43 – Damage Control

    The whole caf heard Tina as she walked through the front door waving the magazine she stopped to buy along the way. Bette had been surprised by the level of furor in Tinas words and actions once she had gotten off the phone with Jackie. Bette had seen Tina angry before but never angry and decisive at the same time. This was a new Tina. She knew exactly what she wanted to say and do. She had taken the time to get the magazine and read the article making sure she had all her facts before she launched her quickly put together plan.

    All Bette had heard from Tinas side of the conversation was Alice, you mean my Alice! as Tina then listened to whatever else Jackie had to say. Bette quickly turned to Tina thinking Oh my God was it Alice that wrote this article? The surprise of this thought gave Bette a genuine look of surprise on her face as Tina hung up and began to explain her conversation with Jackie.

    Bette now was using every inch of her long stride to keep up with Tina as she was charging into the Planet to have a few choice words with Alice. The first thing Bette notices is how crowded the Planet is and that everyone in the place is looking at Tina as she is marching in with the magazine waving it over her head. Among those looking at Tina are all their friends, Shane, Dana and Alice. At this moment Bette actually feels a little sorry for Alice who now has more of the deer in headlight look with her mouth open. Kit hearing all the commotion has made her way from the kitchen and catches Bettes eye. Bette just motioned to her that is was all Tina and she had nothing to do with it.

    To Alices credit she tries the old axiom that offense is the best defense as she starts talking first Oh Tina look youre with Bette are you two together again?

    Tina just looked at Bette as if image of the two of them walking into the Planet together was an every day experience which Alice could expect from now on. That is not something I want to talk to you about right now. WHAT I WANT to talk to you about is this article. Thank you very much I just accepted my new job and havent even officially started and you have put me to work with damage control. Tina states flatly. She is so far ahead of Alice and the other girls that they all just sort of look at her with the HUH??? look about them.

    3. Like this story. Amazon I’m with you the Reverend did come off as a “preachy” son of a *itch. But that could be part of the story line something to be explored later as Bette’s involvement in the foundation plays out. Remember Tina is pretty new to the Foundation and is not that familiar with the players involve in creating it. — Jwet is a great writer and I’m sure she won’t leave any stones left unturned.

    4. “You want to date me?” Bette asks and then immediately answers the question. “Yes let’s date!” Whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

      Question: Will Tina ask Bette to be on the Board for MYV Foundation? That will be so cool!

One thing though I’ll have to go back and find the chapter but, the reverend didn’t seem like a “nice guy” or have a “live and let live philosophy” I remember him being a homophobic asshole. I shall go check. Being a recovering catholic and going to catholic school for a VERY long time the whole ” love the sinner hate the sin” mentality tends piss me off and cloud my vision a bit.

      Loving the story, can’t wait for more.
