    Frozen Beginnings – Chapter One

Tina stopped to take stock of her surroundings. With a heavy heart she realised how totally isolated she really was and a wave of panic threatened to wash over her. She had been skiing for over an hour and right about now could only come to the conclusion that she was lost.

    Totally lost.

Earlier, the threat of an avalanche had deliberately made her change her course but instead of making her feel safe she had found herself surrounded by vast expanses of snow which the fast approaching dusk was turning into a beautiful menace glittering in the rising moonlight.

A little whimper escaped her throat but sticking her chin out in defiance she got back to her senses. After all, she was an excellent skier and had been so from a very early age, she inwardly told herself determined to believe the silent pep talk; even black runs had never as much as triggered any fear in her. The best thing right now was to simply keep her eyes opened and she would soon find her way home again.

Pushing on her batons she headed for a nearby grove of evergreens, the only landmark in the immaculate whiteness. There was no denying that she was potentially in danger, alone on the side of the mountains and the fault lay squarely with her…

    … and Eric.

    Especially Eric.

    Her so-called boyfriend.

The rat was to blame too after all for her impromptu decision to take to the slopes. Incapable as he had always been to keep himself for laying a charm offensive on anything or anyone with a skirt or a pulse. And that little Italian maid in their hotel had been the last straw, when Tina had caught them earlier in the day in a compromising position.

“How dare he?” she spoke aloud at the vision of betrayal sadly still clearly imprinted in her mind. She leaned against the trunk of the nearest spruce. She closed her eyes and inhaled sharply a couple of times to try and appease the mounting anger and tell-tale sting of tears behind her eyelids.

She wanted to scream but refrained at the last minute as, as her luck would have it, she’d only cause an avalanche.

The cold was starting to sip slowly through her woolly hat. She should have known better than to succumb to après-ski fashion as opposed to common sense and practicality. At least her ski suit was the best money could buy and would protect her for a while against the now creeping frigid temperatures.

Love the beginning, so Tina is a rich little girl, who is going to find her true love in the snow.

    3. Well, Kins, so wonderful to see you again. You’ve been on my mind lately, must be I heard you writing thru the ethers. A wonderful beginning to a Kins saga and I can’t wait to read more.

Have to say I always enjoyed downhill skiing but never to the risk of going outside the ropes. I love the swooshing thru the powder snow for the thrill it gives when timing it perfectly with the mountain side. Sounds like Tina does similar. Funny how life catches up to us when we’re not on the right path nor truly listening to our heart. Surprisingly those bumps and hurdles appear to guide us in the right direction most generally in the right time, too! So it makes me wonder, who would be living on the side of a mountain in a little chalet at this time of the year? Was it the Universe guiding Tina in that direction with an avalanche or two? Hmmmm, I wonder…

SO excited to see you again friend! And excited for another good story from you. So, I shall put another log on the fire, refill my coffee mug and sit back and listen with a beaming smile on my face. :o))

      • I have heard so much about from you Bumsue, who tells me frequently that she has read everything you have written and wished that you would return. Delighted you have! I enjoyed your story and its auspiciously constructed beginnings.

Presently, I’m having a go at my L Word inspired version of Season 7 in a photo illustrated book titled, Touch Tone. I will be delighted to have your comments on my storyline when you have time. My first chapter, After Midnight is here: http://bit.ly/tina-kennard on LesFan. It follows immediately after Bette proposing to Tina in the Chapter titled, Malibu, found here. http://bit.ly/1qT8rKJ on LesFan.

Delighted to have a talented storyteller return!
