    Frozen Beginnings – Chapter One

Her eyes searched the rapidly falling darkness which now was surrounding her and fell on another thick bunch of trees which she thought inwardly again would offer a half decent shelter, should she be forced to spend the night outdoors.

She exhaled a deep sigh. What miracle would it take for her to find the way back to her hotel? She seriously doubted though that her lothario of a future ex-boyfriend would even notice that she was missing, instead believing she had gone for some fresh air or a shopping spree or maybe had booked herself in another of the luxury hotels in the resort with the help of her little flexible plastic friend.

So what? Yes she had been born with a silver spoon in her mouth and money had never been a problem. It did not necessarily mean she was spoilt.

Fat lot of good her credit card was right now though Tina carried on with her internal monologue resigned as she was to the fact she was well and truly lost. And possibly in deep trouble.

Determined to not give up just yet she straightened up and started a careful descent towards the dense trees. She truly hoped they would offer enough shelter and who knows there was maybe a little hut there too, the kind animal conservationists built to support the local wildlife during particularly severe winters. Right about now some straw to protect her from the cold, dampness and the now falling snow would be a luxury she would not refuse.

In near pitch black conditions, her eyes kept firmly on her goal, Tina skied on not noticing however the small mound on her path. One of her skis jammed itself in the soft snowy protrusion, halting her descent abruptly and catapulting Tina over it. She fell ungracefully, immediately starting what felt like a never ending tumble down the slope losing one of her skis in the process.

When she finally came to a natural stop at a point where the slope offered a lesser incline, Tina swore under her breath and made to stand up. Her effort was soon hampered when a sharp pain tore through her ankle, forcing another expletive out of her mouth. The throbbing cut through her like a sharp blade.

    3. Well, Kins, so wonderful to see you again. You’ve been on my mind lately, must be I heard you writing thru the ethers. A wonderful beginning to a Kins saga and I can’t wait to read more.

Have to say I always enjoyed downhill skiing but never to the risk of going outside the ropes. I love the swooshing thru the powder snow for the thrill it gives when timing it perfectly with the mountain side. Sounds like Tina does similar. Funny how life catches up to us when we’re not on the right path nor truly listening to our heart. Surprisingly those bumps and hurdles appear to guide us in the right direction most generally in the right time, too! So it makes me wonder, who would be living on the side of a mountain in a little chalet at this time of the year? Was it the Universe guiding Tina in that direction with an avalanche or two? Hmmmm, I wonder…

SO excited to see you again friend! And excited for another good story from you. So, I shall put another log on the fire, refill my coffee mug and sit back and listen with a beaming smile on my face. :o))

      • I have heard so much about from you Bumsue, who tells me frequently that she has read everything you have written and wished that you would return. Delighted you have! I enjoyed your story and its auspiciously constructed beginnings.

Presently, I’m having a go at my L Word inspired version of Season 7 in a photo illustrated book titled, Touch Tone. I will be delighted to have your comments on my storyline when you have time. My first chapter, After Midnight is here: http://bit.ly/tina-kennard on LesFan. It follows immediately after Bette proposing to Tina in the Chapter titled, Malibu, found here. http://bit.ly/1qT8rKJ on LesFan.

Delighted to have a talented storyteller return!
