Gods Gift- Pt 8
Chapter 8
***Bette***
When I asked Tina about going to New York with Olivia for two days she was more that ok with it. I must admit though that a part of me wanted her to say no and another part wanted a sneak peek into my sisters life in New York. Anyway I did go. Angelica threw a tantrum, cried herself to sleep the first night. When we first brought Angelica home, actually when she was born I bought a new bed. A huge king size bed, so all of us could fit on the bed. I thought it would be easier for Tina to not have to get up all hours of the night with Angelica. So we had her sleep with us. Even now she would sleep, but not as often. So you see my point here. When I say we havent spent a night away from each other, I mean weve never spent a night apart.
I enjoyed my time there. Olivia took me our moms grave. That was an emotional moment. She also took me to meet the guys she worked with. She didnt say anything to me, but I think she a small crush on the Assistant District Attorney. We spent the rest of the time just hanging out and talking. Olivia is great. I am really, really glad she is in our lives. We keep in touch regularly, phone calls, emails and she visits whenever she can. We also make trips to New York for vacation.
Six years later
Hi sweetie, how was your first day of junior high? Wheres Melissa?
Melanie is taking her home. *Sigh*
Whats wrong sweetie?
I hate school.
Why what happened today?
Nothing.
Nothing happened and you dont like school?
You wouldnt understand.
Try me. She shrugged. You wanna get some ice cream. We could talk?
I guess.
We stopped at an ice cream parlour not too far from home. I got her her favourite and I got a mocha surprise. Getting her to open up was like trying to pull teeth from a chicken. Sooo.
***Angelica***
Mom is really trying hard. I could make it easy on her and just tell her what she wants to know. But sometimes I like the attention. Since Aiden was born the attention was split and sometimes I really miss this. Just mom and me. I didnt have as bad a day as I am letting on. I mean it was like any other first day. Sure we had to duck the older kids sometimes, although they tend to pick on the boys more, but it was a so so day, and not necessarily a really horrible day.
