Great Unexpectations Chapter 33

"Where’s Bette?"
"She’s sleeping", Tina said. Offering nothing more.
"Where are you going?", he asked.
"Well, I was gonna run along the beach, but I think I’ll amend that to a nice leisurely walk. I was thinking of going down to the public access."
"That sounds about my speed. Mind if I join ya?"
"Only if you’re ready to leave right now. I don’t wanna be gone long. Bette will be up in a bit."
Richard quickly put on a pair of cross-trainers and joined Tina on the sand. They walked a half-mile to the public access and could see that it was already filling up. They found the sidewalk and opted for it’s sturdy surface. They stopped at a bench and looked out on the blue water with the sun hanging lowly over the horizon, still on it’s journey to the high sky. "It’s really beautiful here", Tina remarked.
"If you like this sorta thing", Richard said, somewhat unimpressed.
"I do", Tina said.
Purely out of habit they scanned the morning crowd. They didn’t see Cora. Nor did they expect to. It had now been four days since Faye died and there was a general sense that they would not meet the memorial service deadline. In their minds they’d equated that with failure. Of course they would continue to look for Cora after the service, but it would be with even heavier hearts than previously thought possible. Much in the way a search-and-rescue mission becomes a search-and-recover mission. That initial sense of urgency would be gone, and it would likely hamper their efforts. Tina checked her watch. "I should get back. Are you staying or coming?"
"I’m coming", Richard said, standing up quickly. So quickly that he startled the cyclist riding past their bench and inadvertently knocked her off her bike. "Oh shit", he said. She fell off the eighteen inch ledge that separated the path from the beach. Luckily it was a sandy landing and no major damage was done to either her or the bike but she was still upset, and able to verbalize. "Jesus Christ Man!! Walk much??"
The young cyclist gathered her bike and stood up looking at Richard and Tina. Richard and Tina stood, dumbstruck. "Cat got your tongue?", the young woman asked. If she’d had a shotgun she would have reminded Richard of the very first time he’d met this young woman’s mother. This young woman. Cora Buckley.

Woah. Now what? Loved the Intimate Bette and Tina stuff.. even the breakdown was good.
Yes!! To the nolten hotness at the beginning of the chapter, to the surprise ending, (and also cos you’ve posted again), that was one of those triumphant-fist-in-the-air moments. It’s weird, but I think Faye’s death is making Bette and Tina stronger in a way. And now they’ve found Cora! I hope they can keep her safe. And I hope their efforts to keep Cora from the Black Hats and that jerk Mr Buckley doesn’t involve anything that lands Richard in jail… I’m still wondering: what was the favor Tina wanted from Kit? I’m stoked you’ve posted again, red. Ace chapter, thanks!

Yeh!! They found Cora, or Cora found them. It’s all good. Glad Tina was able to forgive Bette so quick. PPS!!
Awesome cliffhanger! I love the Tibette bonding too. Every time their relationship starts to go off track, they have the good sense to talk things out.
Great chapter! I especially loved the scene where Tina gets Bette to admit that her “sneaking out at night” wasn’t the smartest thing to do. But I can truly see Bette doing anything to avoid failure. Good thing Tina is there to support her. PPS.
Finally, they get a break. Thanks to Bette’s sneaking out and Tina getting mad at her and unable to sleep. If Tina had not decided to run and meet up with Richard they would have never come across Cora.
Thanks god finally Cora is here and now take her home and tell her everything. Glad B&T are ok. Please post more, thanks!
jp22, I can tell you what Tina wanted Kit to do, “bring Angelica to Michigan.” So happy to see this post tonight. And equally happy that Cora bumped into them, now hopefully they can get her back to California w/o her father knowing where she is and keep him from her. And maybe Richard can see that the bstard is arrested. Thaks for posting. PPS
Woohoo, they found her! Now comes the difficult part of convincing her to stay and listen. Great update. Please don’t scare us by telling us you are done with NC-17–you write them so well :)
Hey RE, I am totally GOB-SMACKED! After everythign that the gals and Richard have been through it is awesome that they have forund Cora. I reallly can’t wait to see how this all plays out. I really am hopeful of a happy ending as Tina just asked Bette to marry her. That would be the most magnificent finale after everything that they have been through. The beginning of this chapter demonstrated yet again why Bette and Tina have to end up together. Even when Bette resorted to old behaviors and tried to protect Tina, Tina calls her out and get Bette to admit her failing. This is Tina’s true power; getting to Bette’s heart and soul and making her face everythign that she is. Truly awesome. Can’t wait to read more of this fabulous Fan Fiction. What a chapter, red! Not to put myself in the horndog catagory, but glad you continued where the last post left off. So,so sexy and loved Tina continuing to ask her nightly question. I almost hate that they found Cora knowing that it signals the impending end to your fabulous story. Thanks for such a wonderful read!
well red, you’ve out done yourself again. the natives don’t seem as riled by this cliffhanger, maybe because it din’t end with Tina’s hands in bette’s pants! Excellent twist with the running into Cora, literally. it’s funny cause that’s what happens when i lose something – i look and look and can’t find it and then when i least expect it, voila, there it is right in front of my face. can’t wait to see what happens next but it better not be a month before i do! PPS!!!!!!

I love that Tina forced Bette’s hand and broke down that wall. I can’t wait for Tina’s surprise, I am assuming Kit is bringing Angelica to them. But most of all, WHOO-HOO, Cora has been found. A new round of drama is about to begin I am sure.
