Guilty Conscience
Tina chuckles, stirring the crimson sauce. “I agree. But it hurts—because she’s not entirely wrong. I did leave.”
Bette sets down her glass and slips her arms around Tina’s waist, pressing her back into Tina’s warmth. “Don’t you dare blame yourself for Michelle’s stupid schemes.”
Tina squeezes Bette’s hands—a tear slides down her cheek. “I’m trying not to, but it’s hard…. I just need a minute…”
Bette buries a kiss beneath Tina’s ear. “K…. I love you. You know that?”
Tina turns and smiles through misty eyes. “I do. I love you too.” She melts into Bette’s embrace.
Bette nuzzles Tina’s neck. “Thanks for cooking. Always a scramble when Kit can’t host at The Planet.”
Tina giggles and dips her spoon into the sauce, then pivots so the spoon meets Bette’s lips. Bette tastes the tangy sweetness and closes her eyes. “Amazing.”
“Really? Nothing missing?” Tina stirs again, hopeful.
Bette rests her head on Tina’s shoulder. “Not one fucking thing. Perfect.”
Tina laughs softly, and they hold each other—until a chorus of footsteps and
Alice’s shout cracks the evening hush. “Yo! Family’s here!”
The kids come barreling in, arms wide, and Bette and Tina exchange a grin as they step forward to greet them.
The kitchen floods with familiar voices.
Carmen’s bracelets jingle as she hoists a bottle of cabernet. “I know Bette’s probably all set on the wine front, but ya know….” She says as she blows Bette and Tina an air kiss.
Alice beelines for the stove, carefully lifting the lid. Steam billows up. “Smells amazing…”
Tina’s wooden spoon comes down with a sharp tap on Alice’s knuckles. “Stop that…”
Alice pouts as she rubs her knuckles.
“So how was everybody’s day?” Shane asks.
Bette leans against the counter and chuckles sarcastically. “I don’t know about everybody else, but my day was terrible….”
Tina turns off the stove and claps her hands. “Alright, everybody, time to eat…. Baby, can you grab the rolls from the oven?”
“Sure…” Bette sets her glass down with a soft clink, sliding past Tina with a hand grazing the small of her back.
They dance around each other—Tina draining pasta while Bette extracts golden rolls, their movements synchronized without a word exchanged.

Well said Carmen, what a bitch
Does Michelle really think she will make a chance in the court. Bitch.
Love how Bette calms Tina and shows her unconditional love.
Thank you so much for the update!
