Guilty Conscience
Tina catches Shane, Carmen, Dana, and Alice watching, their faces soft in the kitchen’s warm glow. ”What?”
Shane leans against the doorframe, arms crossed, a half-smile playing on her lips. ”Just… this. You two. Like old times…. just glad to have it back…”
Heat creeps up Tina’s neck as her eyes find Bette’s. “Me too…”
Bette leans over and gives Tina a playful peck on the lips as everyone files out of the kitchen and into the dining room……

Later, the party drifts onto the back patio, where warm lantern light catches golden dust motes in the air.
Shane sits down, sets her beer on the small table, and slings one arm over the back of Carmen’s seat. “Thanks for hosting tonight, Bette…”
Alice leans back in one of the lounge chairs and grins. “Yeah, we all know how torturous it is for you and Tina to keep your clothes on for more than, what, two hours?” She waggles her eyebrows, and the others chuckle.
Bette lounges between Tina’s legs. She lifts a cold beer to her lips, eyes dancing.
Tina threads her fingers through Bette’s short hair, pulling gently. “Hater,” She teases Alice, voice soft as velvet.
Alice laughs. “I’m not hating. I’m manifesting that shit for myself.” She bites her lip, a sudden blush blooming. “Actually, I’m pretty excited about my date tomorrow night. This girl seems…promising.”
Dana, sprawled in a chaise lounge, props one elbow on the armrest and arches an eyebrow. “It’s not that girl with the sock puppets, is it?” she asks, tone half-mocking, half-curious.
Snickers ripple around the circle.
Alice narrows her eyes, lips tightening. “Of course not,” she snaps. “And it’s wildly in poor taste to even bring her up, Dana.”
Tina’s hand freezes in Bette’s hair. “I feel like that’s a story I’d like to hear,” she says, eyes twinkling.
Shane laughs and leans forward. “A few years back, Alice dated a comedian who was obsessed with sock puppets…” She stops, biting back a laugh as Tina nearly spews beer down her front.
Alice’s cheeks quiver with faux indignation. “She was not obsessed. She was experimenting with character voices, okay? It was for her set.” She waves her hand like a conductor shooing away a bad note. “You guys are so judgmental.”

Well said Carmen, what a bitch
Does Michelle really think she will make a chance in the court. Bitch.
Love how Bette calms Tina and shows her unconditional love.
Thank you so much for the update!
