Chapter 9
The first awareness Bette felt was the pressure of the sheets against her legs. She must have tossed and turned her way through her sleep enough that now the top sheet was wrapped around her left leg, binding her to the bed. Cracking her eyes open she was dazed by the brightness of the room. It must be closer to mid-afternoon than the first of the morning. She immediately closed her eyes and sunk her head down further into her pillow. With her eyes closed she could feel the sweat coming off her body leaving her sticky. The sun shining brightly through the window was building heat in the room. She should get up and open a window.
A cool breeze of air would be perfect right now, cooling off the room and alleviating the stickiness she was feeling. Breezes can have powers beyond the obvious providing a cleansing of the air as well as blowing through her mind. The beach was where the best breeze could be felt. It was one therapy session Bette could tolerate. The beach, a place where the breeze blow steady and rhythmic sounds of the ocean soothe her soul, settling her restless mind. The beach … she remembers being there … yesterday.
As the events of the previous day play out in her mind. Pictures of Tina … pregnant Tina … Tina holding Bette’s hand up to her stomach. Bette moves her fingers together, she had felt the kick. It’s a girl. Their daughter, a girl. Bette’s stomach heaves bringing into sharp focus the left over remains of muscle pain.
“Oh God did that really happen?” Bette asks out loud.
Her immediate reaction was to push it away by crawling under the covers and burying her head. She needed to get away from the brightness of another day and the clarity of her memories. She didn’t want to think, to remember. If she started to think she would remember Tina finding her on the beach, how they had talked. She would also remember about who had been here or what they wanted and most of all she didn’t want to feel the shame and guilt of letting them down. She wants to escape from thinking. Thinking and wondering the two went together to twist around her in mind. Why had Tina still been here? What was Kit doing her with her? Where they talking about her? Of course they were talking about her. Why did she stay? What does Tina want?

Okay, here we go. Bette took step 1, throwing the pills out. Now comes the hard part, staying away from them. It is so heartbreaking to watch someone you love have to battle that addiction every minute of every day! PPS.
Well done Bette for choosing not to take the drugs. Well done. I knw it is difficult but you are not alone anymore Tina’s back.PPVS

Bette took the first step and threw out the pills. Let’s just hope she makes it through the next steps, staying away from them and re-joining civilization. PPS

Glad that Bette flushed the pills and I know Tina has figured out that is what she has done and is beside herself with joy over that happening. Let’s just hope with Tina’s love and strength Bette can stay off them and refuses when Shane offers again. In fact, I hope Shane gets caught by Tina when she does offer to help Bette get the drugs again. She should be horse-whipped, she knows better. Tina also understands how she has helped helena hurt Bette and is trying to make amends by helping Bette and by getting the info that hopefully will bring helena down. Yes, Candy should leave town but not before helping Tina get her. Hopefully the info she has given Alice will be a big help but she will have to be very careful because obviously helena is having her watched night and day. Can hardly wait to see what happens next with everyone. Fantastic chapter.
Thank you for the hope that Bette has finally showed. Some how, some way Helena Peabody is going down for the count. I only hope that Bette and Tina will have front row seats and sharing their lives when the show down comes about.

Hey JWet, Again you have surpassed your own height standards as this tale of woe and redemption continues.It seems like Bette has finally hit rock bottom. She is a mere shadow of the Alpha-Bette that Tina fell in love with. It is heartbreaking for Tina to accept the part she played in this downfall.Confused and dis-oriented Bette was still aware of Tina’s presence and its ability to calm and comfort her. This ESP was wonderful to witness.I firmly believe that it is a great deal easier to believe in yourself if someone else believes in you first.Tina is the anchor for Bette’s psyche.It was like Bette coming home when Tina touched her. Suddenly the mists began to clear and hope returned.I was tearful as Bette managed to flush away the poisons from her life.I hope the shower can continue the job and wash away the dirt from Bette’s heart and mind as well as her skin.And then CandiAss’s comeuppance has beyond. I know that it is Helena that has put this plan into action for her own gains. Candace is reaping what she has sown. I just hope that she has given Alice enough to help bring Helena dow.So many intruging and exciting threads blended together by a Mistress of Melodrama. JWet, the rainbow of feeling you emote so well. I am completely on tenderhooks, sitting on the edge of my chair and then so disappointed when it stopped so suddenly. Just can’t wait to follow this amazing adventure again.So much joy and pleasure from your fair hand that ‘Thank you’ seems so inadequate but it is all I have.Thank you for this delightful drama.Your Loyal Fan and Friend.
Wow! Great chapter. I was surprised that Bette threw away the pills but it sounds like a step in the right direction for her. Tina still seems to have Bette’s number and the ability to soothe her tempered soul.
bringing Bette back from dead is surely sthg only T can do. Who is warning Candy? I want Candy to do damage to Helena. Love it. Thx.
