    Helena and Dylan

The seven stunningly beautiful women entered the Planet and immediately all the attention was on them. As usual Marina had reserved a VIP section for Bette and her guests. Alice and Dana couldn’t join them for dinner but they had agreed to meet at the Planet and they were already sitting at the table when the other women arrived. The Betty Band was performing that night. Bette bought the first round of drinks and they all got up to dance “It Girl” when the band started playing. Suddenly the lead singer walked off the stage towards a woman in the audience. When they looked closer they saw that it was Carmen’s girlfriend Shane. Marina had hired Carmen to DJ at the Planet when the band finished their set and as usual Shane had accompanied her. Carmen didn’t look too happy when the Betty band member kissed Shane on stage, but it was all in good fun.

Jamie Chen was also at the Planet that night and Bette introduced her to the gang. She, Bette and Helena set a date to meet up on Thursday of that week to talk about the fund-raiser.  Everyone was having a great time drinking, dancing, and talking but all Bette could think about was missing Tina and wishing she was there with her.  Bette stayed at the club for a while then made her excuses and went home alone.

She tossed and turned in bed for a while but sleep escaped her. It was after midnight when she got up and changed into a bathing suit and went for a swim in the pool. She pushed herself and did more laps than normal. Her mind was working overtime. She thought back to the evening before. She’d been an emotional wreck. She’d broken down in Francesca’s arms and cried. Francesca had asked her why she was trying to tear down everything that she and Tina had built in their short time together. Why did she always give in to her knee jerk reactions when it came to Tina? Why did she always assume the worst instead of giving Tina the benefit of the doubt? Why didn’t she trust and follow her heart as she’d asked Tina to do when they decided to give love a chance?

Tina had accused her of pushing and pulling at her and she was right. She was doing the same thing to Tina that Tina had done to her. Had she forced Tina into making a commitment that she herself wasn’t ready for? Had she compromised on her beliefs and convictions to be with a woman that she didn’t trust to be faithful? Did they rush into a relationship only to find that they didn’t know where it was headed? Could she really juggle a new girlfriend and a newborn baby both of whom would be vying for her time and attention? Was it fair to Tina? What about Alex? Who would Tina be to him? Bette swam a few more laps then got out to the pool. She put on a robe and went inside to shower and change for bed. She hoped that they would find some answers once they had a chance to talk on the weekend.
