I Need My Best Friend – Part 8

She called Alice about having dinner Wednesday night.  Alice offered to call Dana and Shane but Bette felt she should do that herself.  They all agreed to meet at The Planet.

She had been busy that afternoon and it was late before she had a chance to sit with James and go over the information he had put together about children’s exhibits.  She couldn’t wait to show Tina.

When she got to Kit’s to pick her up for dinner she was pleased to see she had cooked.  Tina always did the cooking so she was glad to have something other than take out.  She had decided to tell Kit about the way things ended with Tina, she needed to talk about it with someone other than Foxworthy.  He had helped her work through the guilt she felt over the way they treated each other that night, at least some of it.  She knew it was going to come up in their sessions together and just needed to talk about.  She told Kit how, after Tina had slapped her, her own desperation to be near Tina had thrown them into an awful downward spiral, one she still wasn’t sure they could fully recover from.  She told Kit how she held Tina down and ripped her dress only to have Tina turn the tables on her, how she had screamed at her, hit her, bit her and the angry *****.  At first Kit couldn’t believe what she was hearing, but she knew there was no way Bette was exaggerating, the look in her eyes told her that.  Kit wanted to know if she had discussed any of this in therapy.  Bette told her she had but it really hadn’t helped and she was afraid of what this was going to do to the progress they had made when they had to talk about it.  She knew that it wouldn’t be long now that they were going to see Foxworthy together.  She hadn’t seen any signs of anger from Tina since that night, but she knew it was still there somewhere; waiting to come out and heaven help them both when it did.

    1. This has be one of the most realistic, true-to-life conversations I have read yet. I like the fact that you don’t clutter your conversations with a whole lot of background editorial. It leaves the reader to draw their own conclusions as to what each character is feeling and thinking. I think this is quite refreshing and I can’t wait for your next chapter.

    2. Wow..Tina is like a ticking time bomb..I was quite surprised she reacted the way she did when they brought up ‘that night’..i guess Tina still has a lot of pent up anger inside her and if she doesn’t deal with it carefully, it may just explode prematurely and may cause a lot of damage to their relationship..this was an excellent chapter, asalways,..as always,..

    3. I missed your series… This one still has drama without being melodramatic and yes I agree with TopLioness, it’s one of the most realistic ones. Loved your series. Can’t wait for your next chapter.

    4. Been reading a lot of the new stories great that we are getting more of Tina’s side emotionally I still feel she had a greater part in their relationship falling apart. Good chapter
