I Want to Come Over, post 7

There were any number of times that she was convinced that Theresa and she were star-crossed.  At first it was the therapist client issue. Then it was the religious issue, Theresa felt it was against the teaching of her faith, then and lastly it was the family issue. Each time they worked through the barriers only to have another issue rear its ugly head. Lastly it was Theresa’s marriage and child.

Theresa had the nerve to invite her to the wedding.  They had been estranged for over six months after that.  She had politely declined on the rsvp and scribbled a wish for their happiness.  The final blow was the pregnancy.  She loved Jasmine but could not get over how and with whom she was conceived. Each obstacle they worked through seemed to invite another until Rosanna finally gave up. Whenever she fully replayed their past it convinced her that there was too much damage for there ever to be a future.

Taking a risk with Bette initially did not seem like taking a risk at all.  Bette was on the rebound for sure.  Rosanna was emotionally open for the first time in almost a decade to date.  There was something about the brunette that warned her from the very beginning that she could get very burned.  Still to feel what Bette stirred inside her was worth it.  Bette was proof that if it could happen once, it could happen twice.  She never imagined that Bette could exist when she was wrapped up in her love for Theresa.

She felt her before she saw her.  Bette eased beside her and put an arm around her waist.

“Can I get you anything honey?”  Bette murmured nuzzling Rosanna’s ear as she spoke.

“A glass of white would be nice.”

                “Theresa, anything for you?”

“Just what you’re having.” She looked at Rosanna.

“You did not just say that.”  Bette warned, her eyes flashing with anger.

“White wine.”  Theresa clarified attempting to play off her faux pas.

“Listen to me very carefully Theresa; you will not disrespect my relationship with Rosanna.  You will not make little innuendos and expect me not to call you on them.  I have a very quick temper, some people call me bombastic, and it’s true.  You had your chance with Rosanna and you blew it.  If you plan to make a play for her do it on your dime not mine.” Bette silently dared Theresa to utter one more syllable. “Now if you will excuse us we are going to get a drink and mingle. Keep your distance.” Bette warned. “Why don’t you go and chat with your friend Kay, you know each other for a long time, right?”

    1. I guess I lost. However, I did not get the feeling that Tina was being vendictive. I thought she was only trying to find a way for her and Bette to get together while playing their friendly game.

    2. Rosanna must be thrilled, with all these women ready to throw down for her. Meanwhile Tina sits by, un-fought for, contemplating the utter failure of her little game. Rosanna 3, Tina 0. Think up a new plan, TK. That one’s got no mileage… or does it? Maybe she’s sown the seeds of destruction, and is just biding her time to reap the harvest. We’ll see, hmmm? Oh, and I almost didn’t catch it, kelika, about the closets… heh, of course I don’t mind. Great chapter, keep em coming please. Thanks, kelika.

    3. Hey Kelika, There is just so much going on in this terrific tale that I am leaft breathless after every new chapter. I do think that there will be words between all of these gals and when the dust settles some relationships will be in tatters; others will be rekindled and some just starting our but strengthened by the experience. I can’t wait. Kelika you are such a wicked writer, taking me along on this rapids ride. Many thanks, Your Loyal Fan.

    4. OF COURSE Tina started the game! But I do love how, no matter what, Bette is the leader of the gang… well, aside from a time in s2, but we’re going to pretend that never happened… And I adore that song. I used to drive around at night all the time with one of my friends playing it. :)

    5. oh alphabette in all of her glory! i love it. TK should be ashamed of herself. for once her passive aggressive scheme has bit her in the ass. great chapter.
