I Will Not Let You Fall

Kit smiled in return, letting Bette squeeze her hand. ”Do I ever need to ask how you are doing?” she inquired good-naturedly. ”You look a lil’ stressed.”

”I’m fine,” Bette replied with a dismissive wave of her hand and took a sip of the flavoured tea.

”You said on the phone that you wanted to talk to me about something.”

The brunette nodded and held a long pause. She contemplated on what way she should start the conversation, but eventually decided to be upfront with it. ”I’m going to Mexico tomorrow.”

Kit’s brows furrowed slightly. ”For what?”

    ”For work.”

Kit kept staring at her sister in confusion. ”What kind of work could you possibly be having in Mex– Oh my God…” she covered her mouth as it dawned on her suddenly. ”Don’t tell me you’ve got inv–”

”Stop right there, Kit,” Bette demanded as she held up her hand. ”I’m not telling you any more of it and you’re not pushing.”

Kit shook her head in sorrow. ”You’re digging yourself a grave, baby sis…”

Bette turned her gaze away and puffed her cheeks, strongly forcing air out of her mouth. She wanted to lash out at Kit’s words while knowing deep inside that they were hitting home, but urged herself to be patient.

”Look, I have total control over the situation, so please, just trust me. I know what I’m doing.”

”You need to turn yourself in before it’s too late,” Kit persisted, shaking her head on and on.

Bette clenched her hands into tight fists as she glared at her sister. ”Isn’t everyone so fucking clever,” she snapped out through gritted teeth. ”You know jack shit about how the land lies in this fucking business, Kit. No one knows, but they still keep throwing their dumb-ass fucking advices in my face.”

”How’s seeking help from authorities is a dumb-ass advice, Bette! Quit wallowing in denial already!” Kit yelled angrily.

”ENOUGH!” Bette yelled louder, sizzling with rage. ”Shut the fuck up, Kit! For once, shut your fucking mouth!”

Kit leaned her chin on her propped elbows, her sad eyes filling with tears.

”God, this is so hard, so hard…” Bette said in complete exhaustion. ”You just can’t stop pushing me, can you?” she asked rhetorically.

    1. I don’t trust Helena at all, i think she is a traitor and will do anything in her power to damage Bette both in “work” and personal life. Shane better don’t let Tina from her eye sight.

Excellent update! Thank you for the update!

    2. Hi Valerie:

Very nice update; it looks like Bette is looking for a way out, with Tina, from her messy life, what intrigues me is, if she plans to run away out of the country with Tina, why is she buying the house? or perhaps she thinks Tina finally won’t go with her and Bette bought the house for Tina; however knowing how possessive and jealous and in love she is, she hardly will leave her girlfriend. I see that you have a character called Henry there, would it be some hetero drama? I hope not. This first part of your chapter 29 is wonderful, but I was wondering about the second part and the outcomes from Bette’s trip to Tijuana, I agree with Bibi, I don’t trust Helena; well, better to wait for your next post, which I’m eagerly expecting to solve some of my questions. Thanks for the story and pps.

      • Hi, proteonomics! I thought I could clarify some things for you before posting the next part. First, the house Bette’s bought is located in another country, where she’s planning to flee to with Tina. And second, no I’m not having any hetero drama with Henry in this story, Henry is simply Bette’s partner in crime, no more no less. :) Thank you for being interested! xoxo

    3. Oh my.
I do not know how Bette is going to get out of this, now she’s the boss of this gang. But
I think she already has plans to get out of this crime life because she would not buy a house just to give Tina, she wants to share it with Tina, and I know how hard it will be for Tina to make that choice.
