Ayola beamed in return and shoved Bette’s body playfully. She bit her lower lip, watching the relaxed brunette. ”I know I’m amazing.”
”Yesterday you told me otherwise when you were staring at yourself in the mirror.”
With an exaggerated pout of her lips Ayola replied, ”Sometimes I’m self-critical… And damn you for remembering me when I’m at my worst!”
Bette chuckled low in her throat as she opened her eyes and slowly sat up, leaning forward, arms resting on her knees. ”I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
There was another silence between the two women, until Ayola spoke again.
”I have one last question.”
Bette smirked, turning to look at her friend. ”You’re full of questions, Sherlock.”
Ayola smiled, self-conscious. ”I’ve never been in love. I’m curious what it feels like.”
”Don’t you want to wait and find out yourself? It’s more entertaining this way, you know.”
”Forewarned – forearmed.”
Bette chuckled. ”Whatever you say. So, what’s your question?”
Ayola clinched a handful of sand and then slowly let it sift through her fingers, enthralled. ”Have you thought of the possibility of coming face to face with her again?”
A serious expression entered Bette’s face, her eyes filled with mystery as she gazed at the ocean. ”I have.”
”Do you think your heart would beat faster?”
Ayola regarded Bette closely. She could see her swallow an emotion, though her face remained indifferent. Then Bette moved to stand up as she said, ”It’s getting late. Let’s go home.”
That’s when Ayola got all the answers she needed.

Another month had gone by, and the end of October had nearly come. Bette had reached great success in re-entering society, she had made friends with her coworkers and even had become one of her manager’s favorites. She also had reacquainted herself with the music world as she had been proposed to perform once in a while as a guitarist with one of the bands that played at the restaurant, where Bette also continued to work full time as a bartender. She had begun to feel in control of her life for the first time, had obtained confidence she once had, and been growing to love herself each day more than the other.
Her financial situation had shifted from ’downright scary’ to ’slightly uncomfortable’ since her release from prison, but lately Bette had managed to stabilize it and even to make it reach the ’enough and to spare’ stage. Given that fact, Bette had insisted to pay monthly rent henceforth to Ayola, but had been fervently refused in that suggestion and, moreover, had been accused by Ayola of being ’materialistic’ and ’money-minded’. They had gotten into their first fight over this, but before long both women had resolved the conflict the best adult way by coming to an arrangement that Bette would just buy food as a rent payment.

Just had a break when i saw that you posted a new update.
It is fantastic that Bette is finding her way back in life and has such a wonderfull friend in Ayola.
So they finally met again, wonder what Tina has to tell Bette. You are such a naughty girl to not disclose it in this chapter.
Why do i have a feeling that Tina moved on with Helena?! That would be the ultimal betrayal that she could inflict on Bette.
Can i pursue you to answer that question via a pm to me?! I would go crazy till you update again, so please, please tell me🙏

I think it’s going to be hard, but they have to find their way back to each other, that type of love can’t be downgraded to friendship, it’s a whole thing or its nothing, I don’t think they have more choices.❤

this is my fav fanfiction so far..
it breaks my heart seeing how hard for Bette to get her life back..so much that she has lost..
couldn’t imagine if ayola wasn’t there to help her.
but i hope they stay their relationship as friend..cos i’m still hoping somehow, somewhere Bette and Tina could find their way back together..and this time Tina could proof her love to Bette by staying by her side as her promised.
it’s suprised me that Tina has moved on with her life and has lived together with someone else…
i really thought after Tina read Bette’s handwriting in her apartment, Tina would tried with all her power to proof her love to Bette by keeping her promise to stay by waiting for Bette…
now that Tina and Bette has met again, please..please…please…. don’t let us waiting too long..
