    ”Uh, I’ll have a cappuccino,” she eventually said, forcing hunger from her mind with a resigned sigh. When the waiter left them alone, both proceeded to study each other silently.     When the waiter left them alone, both proceeded to study each other silently. The atmosphere was becoming too heavy and thick. There was a deeper significance to their stare that the blonde couldn’t quite identify, but it felt like a delicate thread between them was pulling tight. It hurt, this delicate thread. It felt threatening.

    Tina swallowed the lump in her throat and decided to speak first, ”How’re you doing?”

    ”Good,” the brunette replied simply and fell silent again. The mutual question didn’t follow.

    Tina had forgotten how hard it was at times to start a nonchalant conversation with Bette.

    ”Are you on parole?” she wondered, hearing the nerves leak into her voice.

    ”Yes.”

    The waiter came back with two cups of coffee. He wished them enjoyment and left again.

    ”So, what did you want to talk to me about?” Bette asked after taking a sip of her espresso.

    Tina’s shoulders dropped a little. She sighed, surrendering to Bette’s obvious lack of desire to chat, to get to know each other again. She then began, ”Several years ago I was contacted by a woman named Margaret Caroll. Do you know who it is?”

    There was a change in Bette’s eyes. Coolness was gone and replaced by the sparkle of interest.

    ”Of course I do,” Bette said, listening closely.

    ”She told me who she was and asked me to save money for you and give it to you when you’d be released from prison. The money is on my bank account, since yours had been frozen. You need to go to the bank and open a new account, so I can transfer the money.”

    Bette hung her head a bit, but enough for the brim of her baseball cap to cover her face completely, so it was impossible for Tina to notice the grief that the brunette was experiencing at the mention of Mrs. Caroll.

    Tina reached for her purse and rummaged inside until she pulled out a key.

    ”She also left you this,” the blonde said, placing the key on the table. ”Your apartment key.”

    Bette looked at the key, then raised her confused gaze at Tina.

    ”She told me that when the apartment went for sale, she found out that the price was negligible, so she bought it out for you,” the blonde explained.

      Ok, so Tina has long-term girl (thanks god she’s not Helena), but she’s not in love in her. It’s good. What’s not so good that her parents obviously like her girlfriend. And what’s bad – how Bette was cold during their meeting and how quickly she left. I just hope Bette will agree for next meeting with Tina.

      So, waiting for the next!

      Thank you for this wonderful chapter.

      Wow, it was very easy to vanish the ten years of separation between them; after trying to move on and make their lives with other people, just one encounter and their hidden feelings came back, it couldn’t be different, their love was very intense, a love forever.

      But if their love and life together ten years ago was hard due to Bette’s criminal life, and Tina’s fears and family situation; to pick up the pieces and glue them together now, won’t be easy.

      but frankly 13 pages is not enough…lol… please update really soon.. can’t wait to see what will tina do to get back to bette’s life once again.. :-D

    6. Thank goodness, Helena is gone. I’m glad Sam is just friends with Tina. I don’t think I would have been able to stomach them together. LOL. Bette seems a lot more sexier, with her more bruting and mysterious self. I’m siding with Bette right now. Thank you so much for the update. I’ve been looking multiple times a day, since your last update.

    7. Geez so heart wrenching. Tina seems on the out side to have moved on with her life but on the inside she’s a mess..Shes still living the next day ten years back when Bette told her to never come back…nothing has changed for her. Bette was in a bad place when she said it but she really didn’t mean it. She just didn’t want to hurt Tina or bring shame to her by being in that place. She loved her enough to let her go. The love is still there now if they can just get out of their own way and talk., they will find their love again. Thank you very much enjoying your story.

    9. Wow, what a meeting! The tension is palpable from the page. I”m glad Tina kept in touch with Mrs. Carol and kept the property taxes paid. Now, how do they reconnect? Brenda is doomed to lose Tina. What an emotional ride? Keep posting and we will keep reading !

      Poor Tina, still so in love with Bette and then receiving such a coldness from Bette. But Bette is protecting her heart.
