    Bette sliced the bread, bobbing her head up and down to the beat of her own inner music. ”Nothing’s wrong with it, babe.”

     

    Tina waited a moment or two to see if Bette would elaborate, but when she didn’t, Tina spoke firmly, her annoyance adding some edge to her voice, ”I just want to grasp at any chance of coming back to accounting. I want to do what I do the best. A part-time job as an assistant accountant will eventually become something bigger as soon as they see how good I am at this profession.”

     

    Bette didn’t answer this time. Irritated at Bette’s lack of response and moral support, Tina kept scowling as the brunette opened the refrigerator again and popped another olive in her mouth before she returned to making herself a sandwich.

     

    ”Jesus Christ, Bette,” Tina rose to her feet in a huff and walked up to the blithe woman. ”Is this supposed to be your dinner? Can’t you have something proper to eat?”

     

    ”Like what?” Bette asked without looking up from slicing the cheese.

     

    Tina opened the refrigerator. ”Like, the lasagna I baked yesterday?” she took out a bowl of lasagna and held it in front of Bette. ”Didn’t you see it?”

     

    ”But I really want a sandwich, T,” Bette assured, managing to sound both stubborn and cute. She turned to Tina, raised the prepared sandwich to her mouth and demonstratively took a massive bite. ”Mmmm,” she moaned in exaggerated delight as she chewed behind bulging cheeks before swallowing and taking another bite, a mischievous gleam in her eyes. ”This is the food of the gods.”

     

    ”You kidding me, right?” Tina shook her head. She couldn’t help but laugh at Bette’s silly behavior.

     

    Putting her free arm around Tina’s waist, Bette pulled the blonde close briskly. ”C’mon, T, have a bite. It’s so good.”

     

    Tina stared blankly at the sandwich in Bette’s hand, then glanced at Bette, then at the sandwich again. She opened her mouth with absolutely no enthusiasm, and Bette slipped a small part of the sandwich inside. Tina bit down on it and chewed listlessly as she stared at Bette, her eyebrows arched in an expression of quizzical amusement.

    3. So, first – i’m not sure it was a good idea for Bette and Tina working together. And not only together, but Bette being Tina’s boss. I understand Tina’s concerns about it when she talked with Dan. Let’s see how it will go. And second – as i understand they want to keep their relationship in secret on work? Not sure how they manage to do it also.
      Third – i like how Bette asked forgiveness for her behavior when she even could take a call from Tina. I hope this situation wouldn’t repeat in the future.

      So, thank you for the chapter again and waiting for the next!

      Great chapter, so much love and listening, still, both girls (now women) are growing.

      I like that Tina talked with Dan about her fears. And Dan is correct, it depends on the maturity of the couple that working together could be an obstacle or great support in their relationship.

      But, what worries me is that all the publicity about the new firm may bring curiously and perhaps Interpol will dig on who is who and many could be caught.

      Another fear I have is that Bette would go back to her old ways if her competitors keep pressing her.

      Anyway, I hope things would keep going well and even better for them.

    7. First of all, Thank you for the update..
      I love this story.. Since the very beginning .. It’s so heart breaking to see how life had been so unfair for Bette if only Melvin cared about his own daughter she wouldn’t have to live her life in crime, so upset because how Tina couldn’t be strong enough to be her shelter, so in love with the Mature Tina who could start appreciated her love one, so mad with Helena who couldn’t let Bette and Tina alone with their new found happiness.. But finally happy when i see Bette and Tina are in a way to reconnect again… Love then both.. :)
