I won’t even say goodbye

“Aren’t you early today, Kennard.” A familiar voice popped beside her and a subtle snide remark was delivered.
Tina didn’t bother to look at the other person.
Kate screwed her brows at the indifference. She had had the hots for this pretty blonde thing for a while, but not once she had showed her kindness. Some reverse psychology, Tina retorted in her head.
“Heads-will-roll still has you on that leftover?” Kate peeped at the open files, “thought you caught the octopus.”
“Pulpo.” Tina flipped it close and corrected her, “and no, there are several members at large.” Somehow there was a glimmer of hope in her sentence, which was met by cold contempt.
“Two unidentified bodies in the fire.” Kate dismissed her rationalization.
“Well that leaves us half a dozen people unaccounted for.” Seven, actually, but she was not to disclose that information.
“The cartel is dead, Kroll just lets you hang around coz she pities you.” The other police officer chewed a toothpick and whistled as she eyed Tina’s gun, “nice piece. Gift?”
“None of your damn business.”
“Ooph, well just remember under Illinois law you gotta register all firearms.” Kate snickered.
“Arden!” Came a stern call from Sergeant Max Sweeney. “Get to work or beat it.”
“Yes, sir.” Kate promptly turned on her heels and strode away.
Tina gave the man a grateful look.
When he disappeared behind his desk again, she sighed and acknowledged the truth in Kate’s hurtful words.
There really wasn’t a sufficient reason for her to bite on the tail of a nearly closed case. She was relieved from street duty and other cases mainly because of her injury. But that stopped to be a good enough excuse long time ago. She still requested to finish up all the trivial paperwork. It served two purposes—one, an unlikely chance to catch the ones that fled, and two, finding the tiniest evidence of Bette’s existence.
People had no idea about Vincent being a brunette woman. She let the discussion slip by neglecting it. And for what she had gathered, the two bodies they recovered from the explosion were too heavily burnt for fingerprints. By DNA testing, it was a woman and a man. The news broke her at first, but a week later, she came up with a twisted explanation that the dead woman might have been the maid, or somebody’s mistress she didn’t know about. It was sick, her obsession, she knew, but it also gave her a purpose to hold on.

hello my good friends, I am horrified to hear about Lipitora’s accident. It’s really really shocking and terrible. To never drive drunk and to always be careful crossing the road!
I would want to dedicate a chapter to her, but a better one, a happier one maybe. Keeping up my prayers.
As for the content in this chapter, I know, I know it’s depressing. The violence and drug abuse are probably not that easy to read. But it’s crucial to my story. So I tried to cram it all in one chapter. Consider this a transition.
Personally, I have struggled with a mild drug addiction several years ago because of a depression episode. It was not as bad though. But I know there are hundreds of thousands of people suffering from similar disorders or emotional trauma. Drug is never a solution, I promise you from experience.
I love you all and hope everyone is ok.
Peace
Robyn
Wow, that was very hard to read. Drugs or other addictions are never the answer.
I can understand why people do it and i am glad you came out stronger.
It was a poweful chapter.
Thank you for the update!
Sad chapter but let tina find this was a heartbreaking ”dream”.drugs r never the answer they are the problem.pps
Wow, quite a turn in the story. Hopefully Tina turns the corner to recovery. Thanks
Difficult, very difficult, to read and can’t help but be anxious.
Please make it better soon and dedicate it to our dear Lipitora.
wow what movie is this? this is some the best action I read on here, even better than some of the movies that come out….sigh poor Tina, drugs? why? people often mistake that drugs ease the pain, yet they do just the opposite..i loveeeeee this!!
I have to say that i am so happy to see this story being updated. It captivated me from the very beginning. That being said, i have all the faith that this story is headed in the right direction hopefully. Thanks for posting!
I was very touched by this chapter.
I have so much faith in you Roby.
The complete constellation.
My best bear hug for you.
