    I won’t even say goodbye

Her finger brushed at the silvery trigger. After a ballistic report, she claimed it her own and somehow Kroll allowed it. She just never took it to the department to register, and she didn’t intend to. It was Bette’s, had been the only thing that reminded her of Bette. And she needed it, to keep her grounded, to prove to herself that Bette had existed, and that she had loved her.

“Officer Christina Kennard was discovered confronting the cartel organizer’s wife, Jodi Lerner. A gunshot in her leg from behind her incapacitated her from apprehending the suspect…” She skimmed over the passage, “she was confused after surgery, having lost a significant amount of memory.” It was true, how she was shot, carried out from the mansion and transported to the hospital was a cloudy memory. But by reading the reports over and over in the past few months, and the initial shock reduced, things came flooding back, and now she could piece out the entire story.

    What really happened

“Vincent!” A deep voice rolled out of his broad chest, Jorge drumming fingers on the table, “is everything ready?”

“Yeah, boss.” Bette snapped out of her trance and gestured to the aluminum cases, millions secured inside.

He nodded with a satisfied smile, “you look squirmy today, what’s crawled up your ass?”

She choked out a laughter, and rolled her eyes, “I guess I just don’t trust Jacob.”

“Well he can be a little delusional.”

“Apparently it runs in the family.” She murmured under her breath.

    “What?”

“I said he has some pretty bold visions.” Bette’s voice was thick with distrust, “if I don’t know better, I’d say he’s robbing us.”

“Oh come on, Vincent, lighten up! There’s always more money, more routes.” Jorge held no bitterness toward his in-law. The two of them had mutual respect and understanding ever since their teenage years. “He’s brother, but this is business.”

Bette nodded and checked her watch. It was time to open up the gate for the catering team they hired. “Excuse me for a sec.”

Tina had been in their room, peeping out the window to see if there was any sign of a raid. She had provided a list of the people that had access to the building, which included the usual maid and a catering team. And after some digging, she discovered that the culinary company was under the name of a casino owner, who laundered money for Pulpo in exchange of protection. Once with that discovery, Lieutenant Kroll had been exploring every angle to infiltrate from the inside first.

    1. Author:

hello my good friends, I am horrified to hear about Lipitora’s accident. It’s really really shocking and terrible. To never drive drunk and to always be careful crossing the road!
I would want to dedicate a chapter to her, but a better one, a happier one maybe. Keeping up my prayers.

As for the content in this chapter, I know, I know it’s depressing. The violence and drug abuse are probably not that easy to read. But it’s crucial to my story. So I tried to cram it all in one chapter. Consider this a transition.
Personally, I have struggled with a mild drug addiction several years ago because of a depression episode. It was not as bad though. But I know there are hundreds of thousands of people suffering from similar disorders or emotional trauma. Drug is never a solution, I promise you from experience.

I love you all and hope everyone is ok.

      Peace
      Robyn

    2. Wow, that was very hard to read. Drugs or other addictions are never the answer.

I can understand why people do it and i am glad you came out stronger.

      It was a poweful chapter.

      Thank you for the update!

    3. wow what movie is this? this is some the best action I read on here, even better than some of the movies that come out….sigh poor Tina, drugs? why? people often mistake that drugs ease the pain, yet they do just the opposite..i loveeeeee this!!
