Peggy walked into the sitting room – Bette, Tina and Helena were chatting.
“No kittens ?” Peggy asked
“Behind the sofa exploring “
Emma walked in and closed the door behind her “Better not let them get out just yet – -with an house this big you might never find them again “
Peggy put the glasses down and sat down. Emma winked at Helena who smiled at her partner – well neither had a bloody nose and there had been no shouting so it was obvious that they had played nicely.
“I think its wonderful that everyone has a lot to celebrate “ Emma said “Be careful of flying kittens when this goes off “
Emma opened the champagne and the POP did make the black kitten dart out from behind the sofa only to vanish behind another chair. Emma poured the champagne into the five glasses and handed the glasses out.
“I am not sure what we should be drinking to “
“How about the success of your clubs ?” Peggy said “I am looking forward to seeing what the two of you come up with. You are a Peabody Helena and I know that clubs are something that you know a lot about – I am glad that you have Emma as a wise influence – to Emma and Helena “
Bette smiled at Tina – that looked like an olive branch to her .
“Thank you “ Helena said “I know that I can do this as well but I am new at this and I am going to be asking all of you for your input”
“Lots of cat litter “ Bette suggested
“Different sorts of milk” Tina added
“Is it too late to take those kittens back ?” Helena said to Emma
“Yes – Tina has waited 27 years to be allowed a kitten”
“How about you call one of the clubs The Kitten Club – I know how much you lesbians like to make jokes about pussy “

After finishing the champagne Peggy made her excuses and left. Emma dragged Helena out so they could go and claim the other two Siamese kittens leaving Bette and Tina alone with their two new housemates. Bette was on the floor trying to encourage the Siamese to come out from behind the sofa. Tina had been washing the glasses up
“Just leave her Bette -she will come out when she is hungry or bored”
Bette got up “Where’s the other one ?”
“God knows “
Bette shook her head “ Our lives just changed again “
“Its been 24 hours since we said that “
“Are you happy about our new housemates ?”
Tina nodded “I am delighted – I did always want a kitten – we had a cat for a while but after she died they didn’t let me have another one because of Kate. So these two little girls are just perfect “
Bette touched Tina’s face and kissed her
“And now Helena is going to get the other two Siamese “
“I think that’s great “ Tina said “We will end up cat sitting them “
“I know – nothing wrong with that – I think Emma and Peggy have finally made their peace “
“They have – the club thing is obviously something she approves of “
Bette nodded and looked around for the kittens again.
“You know – without Emma – Helena would have just sat around feeling sorry for herself and playing the part of the spoilt rich girl – your mom seems to have given her some purpose “
Tina nodded “Mom is driven – that’s one thing that I cannot say against her – I am pleased that Peggy is coming round”
Bette bent down and picked up the Siamese who had emerged from her hiding place.
“So – what are we going to call you and your sister then ?”
