is this love – chp 111

    Chapter 111
Bette stirred in bed and opened her eyes – Tina was missing which always meant that the day didn’t get off to the best possible start. Bette looked at the bedside alarm clock – 8:42 . So it was quarter to nine on a Saturday morning -so normally Bette would not be worrying about Tina’s non presence in bed. But this was not a normal Saturday – this was the anniversary of Tina’s mom’s death and it wasn’t a day that Tina was looking forward to. Tuesday had been a high – the job offer was massive and Bette had hoped that the buzz from that piece of great news would help her over something that was going to be tougher for her. But Friday night they had gone to a movie and dinner together and Tina had been quiet – Bette hadn’t mentioned what she knew the problem was – this was not the time to push Tina. So Bette was taking the laid back approach and had decided to not have any preconceptions about how Tina was going to be today. Bette lay in bed for five minutes but in the end knew that something was up so she got up – put her robe on and went to the bedroom door.
Tina was sitting on the sofa, dressed in pyjama bottoms and a huge sweater. She was sitting clutching her knees and she was listening to something with headphones on. Tears were falling down her face as she sat. Bette’s heart went out to the blonde – this was going to be a tough day but Bette was determined to be whatever her lover needed her to be. Bette walked into the room and crossed to the sofa and sat down. Tina looked at her and managed a tiny smile.
“What are you listening to ?”
“One of the songs she wanted at her funeral “
“Care to share ?” Bette asked.
Tina nodded and got up and removed the headphone cable from the hi-fi socket. She got back onto the sofa and allowed Bette to pull her into her arms. She picked up the remote control for the hi-fi and pressed play.
May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
    And climb on every rung,
    May you stay forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

    1. I seem to have done a lot of crying these last weeks and here I go again as I read this lovely post.

Thank you Ally, you have been a favourite writer of mine for a number of years and I have reread your stories quite a few times but to have you posting a new story at this difficult time is a real blessing.

I have been in solo isolation here in the Derbyshire Peaks for eight weeks without seeing family or friends, and, as I am over 70, do not anticipate release any time soon.

BUT I will be staying the xxxx inside and protecting our superb NHS

    2. I always measure the goodness of a story by the emotional impact – tears, laughter, suspense and shock. This one gets this weeks award for best emotional impact. Sweet tears for Tina. I feel her loss and grief. And I feel her gratitude for finding Bette and I feel Bette’s loving support for Tina’s loss and her absolute devotion to the woman she loves.

I bow and pay homage to your writing. Thank you for this chapter. You have been rather prolific with your output, but as an addict of the Tibette world, I always want more.

    3. What a beautiful and very emotional chapter.

You can almost literally feel the pain and loss of Tina.

      The songs were so beautiful.

Bette was there for Tina, to support her at such sad day and felt emotional too.

      A very good chapter!

      Thank you!
