    But an unexpected way, on this unexpected day…could it mean this is where I belong? It is you I have loved all along?

    She knew Tina wanted them to get back together. Tina had made that clear many times after she had left Henry. But, she couldn’t do it. She just couldn’t open up that part of her heart that had been locked up. She was terrified of what would happen if she did. And, that terror had been strong enough to keep her from saying yes to Tina for four years. Not that Tina had made her feelings know lately. Bette thought that Tina had either finally given up, or she was seeing someone else. Either way, the invitations to dinner, the pleading looks to talk in private stopped about a year ago. Now there was just a polite, friendship. Anything not pertaining to Angelica was totally surface material, with nothing deeper than, "how’s work?"

    For Tina’s part, she had realized within a couple of months that she had made a terrible mistake in getting involved with Henry. He was such a good person. He treated his ex wife with respect, he was a good father to Mickey, and adored Angelica, and he was very good to her. That’s what made her getting involved with him so terrible. She had deliberately used this man, who was just looking for someone to share his life with, in order to satisfy her own selfish physical urges. And then, she used his gender and the normality a life with him could offer both she and Angelica to decimate Bette’s self esteem. She knew what she was doing, when she was doing it, and seeing for herself her ability to inflict pain on someone she loved…absolutely horrified her.

    She had known how much it would hurt Bette if she turned her back on everything that Bette’s life represented and shove the total opposite lifestyle in her face. She did it meticulously…she did it deliberately, and then she sat and watched as the woman she loved more than any other human being on this earth, other than her child, crumbled before her. She sat back and watched as this unique and wondrous woman allowed her to systematically wound her, time after time, and then watched as Bette valiantly tried not to let those wounds show in front of others…not wanting to embarrass Tina by letting others know that she had failed her again.

    7. This story has left me breathless and speechless. You have taken two very broken women and brought them back home. Somtimes you have to tumple all the way to the bottom so that you can once again begin to live. Both of these women have done that and are now on the road back to each other. Keep bringing us romantic stories.
