    But an unexpected way, on this unexpected day…could it mean this is where I belong? It is you I have loved all along?

    It wasn’t until she had gone over to her former home so Bette could spend a few "supervised" hours with Angelica, that she truly saw the devastation she had caused. The normally expressive eyes…the eyes that could tell you a complete story, with a beginning, middle and end, all without verbal accompaniment, were now just blank brown circles. No emotion, no stories…no anything, their only purpose to keep the woman that housed them from bumping into furniture. They were used for vision only…nothing else. That one look nearly caused Tina’s knees to give away. At the time, she had grabbed onto the door jam to keep herself upright.

    But then, the dead eyes had turned to look at Angelica, and the shutters came up, the sparkle returned, and love beamed out connecting with the same expressive eyes of their little girl. Tina had gently given Angelica to Bette and then handed her the diaper bag, backing away towards the stairs. Bette had looked at her with confusion, knowing this visit was supposed to be supervised.

    "Aren’t you staying to watch me?" Bette had asked, the dead eyes back when they looked at her.

    "Uh…" Tina stuttered. "Actually, I have some errands I have to run. Is it okay if she stays with you until tonight? I can be back by, say 6:00."

    The tears that filled Bette’s eyes were heartbreaking. There was so much joy, so much happiness shining through, just from the thought of being able to spend one day with their daughter. Tina had felt really good about being the one who could cause that gorgeous smile to reappear, but then realized that the whole reason Bette was acting this way was because Tina had been keeping Angelica from her for two months. She was the reason Bette’s eyes had just been circles that someone could have drawn on her face with a brown crayon for all the emotion they evoked. Turning, so as to hide her own tears, Tina raced back to her car, saying, "See you at 6:00."

    It was shortly after that day that Tina had left Henry, and professed her true love to Bette. Now, here they were four years later, both stronger emotionally. Both women truly coming into their own once again, but both woman alone. Both women working on bettering themselves, however choosing to do so without dating other people. Besides, when you work full-time and have a home and a child, there really isn’t much time to go out and meet people. For Tina however, her staying single was her way of showing Bette that she was serious about only wanting to be with her. It was her way of saying, you are our family. Whether we are together or not, you are the other equation in our lives.

    7. This story has left me breathless and speechless. You have taken two very broken women and brought them back home. Somtimes you have to tumple all the way to the bottom so that you can once again begin to live. Both of these women have done that and are now on the road back to each other. Keep bringing us romantic stories.
