    CHAPTER SEVEN: Life In Disguise

     

     

    Midtown Manhattan, NYC.

     

    A young woman stood on the junction of Broadway and 7th Ave, waiting impatiently for the pedestrian light to go green. With nothing to do but to tap her booted foot in a rhythmic fashion on the pavement, she preoccupied her restless self with gazing mindlessly at her surroundings – if only to keep her mind off the reason why she was mingling with commonfolk during today’s lunch rush. Noticing the similarities between those standing beside her and everyone else working the streets, she couldn’t help but smirk and slowly expel a huge amount of air from her nostrils. All around, she was flanked by people with technology sprouting from their ears – from their cellphones and earpieces to headphones hooked up to fancy mp3 devices. With their gadgets attached to their heads, they secluded themselves into their own tiny bubbles that it was no longer surprising for her to note that no one really made eye contact anymore. “Ouch! Jesus!” She snarled when her foot got trampled on by a rude man who had cut right in so he could stand at the front of the waiting pack. Studying the time on his watch, he barely paid attention to Bette Porter’s grumbling form as she stood behind him, burning the back of his head with a scathing glare. Resisting the temptation to shove his anal self right into traffic and turn him into a human pancake, the heiress grudgingly kept her hands confined in her coat pockets and behaved. The fact that she was the only one who seemed irritated by it all told her that this type of thing was a common occurrence in NYC – and its either people in here are so graciously forgiving or they’re just so used to it by now that they let obnoxious behaviors slide. As soon as the light turned green, she found herself being swept away to the other side of the street by the sheer amount of people behind her. Instead of being overwhelmed and be swallowed by the current, she caught herself in time and started to take larger strides to match everyone’s frantic pace. It was a wise and brilliant move on her part, since except for some tourists, no one really took leisurely walks around here. Everyone was in a hurry, herself included.

    7. Second post, I know, I’m working on getting a life. I was reading JTG I and came across the incest part, and then thought about IC insulting our intelligence with TK’s interrogation scene. Just wanted to mention that, tah for now. LOL

    10. Actually, this was an awesome chapter. I was able to see a young, bright, beautiful woman come to terms with her former behavior. Bette is growing up and becoming a better person. I am with Alice, I am not too found of Kate and you are making me nervous. Who is this new person that Bette is going to meet?

Still trying…… Kate is going to cause trouble for Tina. I hope Alice keeps a close eye on Kate, just in case Tina gets into trouble. Great post. PPS

    15. Why do I have a bad feeling that Tina is going to catch Bette with Candace in the future.As for Kate, sure Bette will hate her… but she might play with her too. Kate could be a fun pet….That sounded better in my head.

Alch agin great chapter can’t stop laughing about what happened after ette “meeting”. Love the love these two are sharing.     18. I’m glad Bette’s getting therapy, and I hope she sticks with it, it’s clearly helping some. Kate = big trouble. I wonder if Bette will see right through the girl straight away, or will she be as oblivious as Tina is? …Nah. If her bff Sam has to maintain distance from Tina at all times outside of Bette’s supervision, I think Bette will hire a squadron of ninjas to keep Kate at bay. Great chapter, Alchemy, thanks!
