Just The Girl – Chapter Twenty (a HYD-inspired fic)
CHAPTER TWENTY: First First Date
7:55 AM. Kennard Aparment.
Tina woke up to the sounds of sirens outside her window. She groaned as she tucked her head under her pillow. "God.. so early in the morning.." She grumbled as she heard the unmistakable sound of glass breaking and policemen shouting from the street below. Any normal person would have been terrified to wake up to such noise, but not Tina Kennard.. she had gotten quite used to waking up to chaos and mayhem. Probably Lee or some of his friends again, she sighed as she pulled the pillow closer to her head. Unable to shut out the sounds, Tina grudgingly threw the pillow at the foot of the bed and pushed herself up to a sitting position. She grimaced when she saw her reflection on the small mirror on top of her study table. I look like shit, she whined inside her head as she tried to tame down her unruly blonde hair. She touched her eyes with her fingers, thinking she saw bags under them. Although she was exhausted from waiting tables yesterday, she couldn’t tire herself enough to sleep well into the night. Her mind kept on running and replaying what had happened during the afternoon. And for the nth time since last night, she pondered if the heiress was asking her for a fight or for a date. The question hung over her head and made her forehead throb. But.. deep inside she knew that the brunette was asking for the latter. But being as stubborn as ever, Tina remained a little in denial. "Damn you Porter.." She irritatingly mumbled as she swung her legs to the side and stood up from the bed. As she left the confines of her room, she chanced upon her father inside the dining area – sipping coffee and reading the paper.
"Good morning honey!"
"Good morning daddy!"
"You’re up early.."
"I guess there’s nothing like waking up to the sound of gunfire and the smell of burnt rubber in the morning.."
"Absolutely."
"Who is it this time?"
"Oh the usual. Lee Stevens and his gang again."
"I knew it."
"I know, crazy kids. Pancakes?"

When Tina saw Bette curled up, soaking wet, waiting for her… I just wanted to ball. It was so incredibly touching. Can’t wait to read the next chappie…
That was great and glad Tina come, ok now let the first date began!
I am glad that Sam stepped in and made sure that Tina understood what was going on. Poor Bette, she has so much to learn but she does seem to learn quickly. Can’t wait to read more!
That chapter had me in tears for Bette. Tina should have listened to her heart in this case. So glad that Sam called, but why didn’t Bette call the house, she does have a cell phone. So beautiful though.
Yay, yay, brilliant; thank you so much!
Wow. That’s a lovely, touching rain-drenched scene. Superb! I hope Bette or Tina won’t catch cold so that they could continue their first, first date. Thank you, Alchemy! :>
