“How long do I have to decide?”
“The offer will be on the table for 90 days. If you accept you’ll have immediate access to all the financials and we can broker the deal on the properties.”
“I’ll need to consult with my business partner and our attorneys. I should be able to give you a definitive answer in 30 – 60 days.”
“That’ll be great Bette. I’ll call Kelly’s attorney as soon as we hang up.”
Trevor was about to end the call with Bette satisfied that she would settle when she called his attention.
“Trevor, can you do me one more favor in the strictest confidence?”
“Of course Bette. What is it?”
“I need a background check on a movie director by the name of Kate Arden.”
“I know the name. She’s pretty transparent from everything that I’ve read. Are you looking for anything in particular?”
“Whatever you can dig up that isn’t public knowledge. I want to know about her rise to the top, but I’m most interested in her association with William Halsey. He’s an American billionaire. From what I’ve gathered his primary residence is a villa in Tulum, Mexico. I want to know how he made his money. He’s financing one of Kate’s projects to the tune of $19 million dollars. I don’t think you risk that kind of money on a mere acquaintance. I want to know if there is any connection. Peabody-Shaolin Studios is producing the movie and everything seems to be on the level but I just have a bad feeling about those two.”
“I’ll get my best team on it right away, but if you don’t mind me asking if it concerns Peabody-Shaolin why aren’t you using Peggy’s investigators?”
“It’s strictly personal Trevor. I’m trusting you with this. I don’t want Tina or Peggy or even Max to know that I’m interfering with studio business.”
“Got it. When are you expected back in LA?”
“Actually I was supposed to head back next week but I’m taking a little detour to my ranch in Vancouver. We never made our traditional trip last year with Alex being so young but seeing how well he handled the trip to New York I think we can manage a few weeks in Canada.”
“Is Tina joining you?”
“Actually she’s already there on location. She’ll be wrapping up soon. I hope to surprise her. We’d talked about going to the cabin, but I think the ranch in Vancouver will be much more relaxing.”
“So is your private cell phone still the best way to reach you?” Trevor asked.
“Yes. I have a satellite phone so you can reach me anywhere in the world.”
“I’ll talk to you soon then. Safe travels Bette and my best to the family.”
“Thank you Trevor. By the way spare no expense. Access any funds you need for the investigation from the account we’ve set up previously. I’ll make sure it’s replenished.”
“I promise you’ll get your money’s worth. If there is anything to find on Kate Arden and William Halsey my guys will find it; no matter how deep it’s buried.”
Bette wasn’t thrilled that she’d stooped to doing things behind Tina’s back but she needed to put her own mind at ease. For the past several weeks she’d been contemplating what to do. Tina might be able to ward off Kate’s sexual advances but the constant rejection might drive Kate over the edge. Bette knew first-hand having been prey to Jodi Lerner that sociopathic sexual predators didn’t take no for an answer, rarely gave up and couldn’t be reasoned with. She’d rather accept Tina’s wrath if she was wrong than to ignore her instincts that suggested Kate’s aggression would escalate and that Tina might be in danger.

So glad that Bette has decided to take matters into her own hands and investigate that crazy little witch. Shades of adele and jodi. Glad her mess is about to come to a halt and in doing this I hope Bette can bring criminal charges and prevent the idiot from ever directing anything ever again. Let her crawl back under that rock she crawled from. And it will also put a stop to William as well. Love your continued nightly postings. Hope you’re feeling generous again tonight. My toes just wiggle when I see a new post from you especially the ones that are immediately posted when I’m just finishing one. Thanks again.
Tina is lucky that Kate has not been violent to this point. That’s probably about to change. At least the movie is wrapped up so it’s time to blow Kate Arden to smithereens.

I’m still a little in the ‘bang heads’ mind set mode and find myself talking to Tina and Bette as I read. Sad really but glad Tina listened and told Bette. Equally I’m delighted Bette is now in kick ass mode.

Come on Tina, get the hell away from that woman. Tina is naive to think that she can handle Kate alone. Her stubborn attitude is going to put her in danger; i.e. date rape or worse. I am not sure that she is the partner Bette needs. Tina needs to know that she has the world at her command with Bette. She can make her mark in the movie business and get to come home to Alex and Bette. I am glad that Bette is willing to use her “pull” to protect Tina. Hopefully she can get the dirt on William and Kate.

Now is time for Bette to kick box Kate’s ass to some frozen lake in Canada.Then the thin ice is going to break and the biatch will be gone!!
I hope Bette will surprise Tina at the wrap up party in time to put a stop on Kate’s plan to attack Tina.
