The brunette seemed to immediately feel at ease, she took off her shoes putting them in the shoe rack and then poured herself a glass of cranberry juice offering something to Tina and Shane as well.

”wow, Helena stocked your fridge for a month?” Shane laughed

”she and Peggy have those kind of problems!” Bette rolled her eyes ”but they were nice anyway”.

”Are you going to be okay?” Tina changed the subject and Bette met her eyes ”sure Tina, this is my house…”

”shit.” Shane’s pager went off ”I have to go to the hospital”

”what? You were supposed to have dinner with Bette, you know I can’t, Monica can only stay with Angue until seven.” Tina got nervous

”well Tina, I would have liked to stay here too, but Dr. Ross has an emergency and I’m the only one available…Bette..I’m sorry.” Shane was really sorry.

”You forget that I was a surgeon too, so I can understand you…run and be careful..” Bette said kindly sipping her juice.

Shane turned the kitchen counter and kissed her friend ”tomorrow we will have lunch together ok?” She said and slunk away giving a quick goodbye to Tina as well.

Tina sighed heavily closing her eyes.

Bette saw her.

”Tina … everything will be fine …”

”Yes, yes … I know … I just didn’t want you to spend the first evening alone Bette..”

”Well I’ve lived more alone than in company you know? except with my father” Bette laughed amused but then became serious because Tina remained serious.

”So, I could go get Angelica and then …”

”Tina no, stop stop!” Bette approached ”Angelica is not a parcel post …. you go home, have dinner with her and read her a story before sleeping together … tomorrow morning we’ll see each other, I’ll be here.”

Tina was sorry, but Bette was right.

So she gave up and kissed Bette goodbye, holding her close.

Two hours later Angelica was already in her bed asleep like an angel, so beautiful, so peaceful. Tina closed the door of her room and went into the living room to tidy up the kitchen.

She would have liked to call Bette, but she hoped that the brunette was already sleeping peacefully, it had been a pretty tiring day and Bette had to avoid overexerting herself. So Tina poured herself a glass of wine and turned on the TV to some stupid entertainment reality show so she would collapse on the sofa in a few minutes.

The doorbell rang, Tina looked at her wristwatch, it was almost eleven, maybe her neighbor Alex needed something in particular, he often resorted to Tina’s help so the blonde shouted that she was coming and quickly opened the door.

”Bette…” she whispered in disbelief.
