Selene was the eldest of five children born to parents who both served amongst the Kaicus army. Her handling of a sword and strength was discovered early on and as a result she was granted permission to join the army at the tender age of 13. Never losing a battle she was confident when performing an exhibition battle against a young girl two years her junior. Her opponent was tall for her age and her body image at that time was equivalent to a full fledge woman, she was pure muscle. Not in the least bit intimated by her size Selene welcomed the challenge. As soon as their swords clanked against one another both girls put on an exhibition for the ages battling it out for supremacy. As highly skilled as Selene was her younger opponent was five times greater. She moved with such precision it was difficult to read and penetrate her defenses. In an attempt to maneuver around her, Selene found herself lying flat on her back with the tip of her sword pressed firmly against her neck. Raising her hand in surrender she acknowledged her opponent the victor of the match. As the years went by they found themselves battling each other in similar exhibitions with the results remaining the same, Selene the loser and Jaeil the victor. Finally accepting she could never defeat her she took position alongside her as second in command.
