Let It Happen – Chapter III

Bette shifted to draw closer, so that their arms and shoulders were now pressed together.

She felt Tina’s body shudder, and mistook it for a sudden chill, feeling the goose bumps rise on Tina’s arms. She drew her arm up, to lightly go around Tina, thinking to warm her, and rub her arms on either side with her warm hands.

What started as light rubbing, up and down Tina’s arms to keep her warm soon turned to something else, however, as Bette’s hand movement slowed.  Her long fingers splayed open, then began to gently caress Tina, from the small of her wrists, up her arms, lingering in the pulse points at her elbows, applying feather-light touches on the upper arms, continuing to the blonde’s slim, toned shoulders. Bette slowly ran her fingers over Tina’ collarbone, caressing the sensitive base of her neck. Her eyes lingered on Tina’ breasts, saw the nipples hardening there, and travelled up to where a pulse point was rapidly beating. Tina’s breaths were getting shallower, and a pink flush had overcome her cheeks. Tina drew a breath slowly, eyes shut.

Bette’s touch, the heat their bodies were generating, and the scent of Bette mingling with the signature, musky perfume she wore, swirled together, causing Tina’s head to spin. She felt a rush of feeling from somewhere in her core, and felt herself begin to throb. She drew her head back, in an effort to regain control of her senses, and subdue her growing desire.

She moaned a whisper just above the audio of the video art that was about to show, ”Please…. stop.”

She heard Bette draw a sudden breath and felt her stand abruptly. Then Tina felt the sudden onset of cool air that rushed to fill the vacuum of the now-empty space vacated by Bette.

Bette walked to the curtains and paused, drawing an unsteady breath. After a moment, they shared a look, softer this time. Tina saw a hint of disappointment in Bette’s eyes, mixed with apologies, the lust that was flashing from her brown orbs was easing away, and other emotions began to swirl.  ”No other love… darling I’m flying…” Heart’s song began playing in the audio track of the video, now showing.

Tina’s hazel eyes were a storm of confusion, lust and desire mixed with unspoken questions. Many questions.  Bette smiled and said softly, ”I’m sorry.”

    1. Dear author, discovering this story of yours last night was truly a gift,
Savouring everything, from the remembering of this magical city of Paris – that is so deeply a part of my soul and heart since always – to this so tender, delicate depiction of our dearest two’s growing attraction I truly love in this story, gives such a comfort to me at a very right moment…
And, finally, these two quotes, in this chapter, brang at the same time smile on my face and tears in my eyes, because something deeply personal resounds in me – bitter sweet memories always present :

“there was something much more intimate and magical in their relationship than undeniable physical attraction (…) She later understood that no matter what would happen later in life between the two of them, Bette would never be able to forget her. This was going to be a relationship that she would not be able to walk away from without being shattered.”

Thank you so much for sharing this true endearing and delicate writing talent with us – I mean it.
      A.

    2. Each, in their own way, will find ways to overlook undesirable things in the other even as they each continue to fall in love with this evolving, changing person they found in “Let It Happen.” Both will continue to change, and will never be the same from book to book in this series.
I hope you’ll get to read the other books — then I hope you let me know what you think.
      Take good care,
      S
