Let’s give this another try, shall we?
She set her glass down and scooted over to where Bette was sitting.
“Okay, here I am,” Tina said.
“And where were we earlier?” Bette asked.
“I was touching the side of your face and I felt you pull me closer just before Angelica got up,” Tina replied matter-of-factly.
They faced each other as the conversation continued, but the exchange seemed more academic and much less emotional. Until Bette leaned in and whispered the question in Tina’s ear.
“Did you want me to kiss you?”
The sensation of Bette’s breath on her neck made Tina pause before responding. Bette always imagined herself to be so in charge of every interaction they had.
“I wanted you to make love with me,” Tina whispered in reply.
Bette sat upright. Clearly, this was not the response she had anticipated.
“And because it now suits your schedule, that’s all that matters?” Bette asked rhetorically, barely able to conceal her disdain for how she had interpreted Tina’s elucidation of her desires.
“It’s not just about me Bette,” Tina said defensively. “I see how you look at me. It wasn’t that long ago that your looks were filled with hatred because of the path I travelled to find out who I was independent of you. But it’s changing. I’ve witnessed the change. And I’m not going to ignore what could potentially make us all very happy. Not just me and you, but Angelica as well.”
Tina stood up as her diatribe was concluding.
“Don’t you dare judge me because I took the time to figure out what was going to make me happy instead of slogging along ignoring all the problems that we had for the last five years of our relationship. I’ve never stopped loving you Bette, but there are also times when I can’t stand how stubborn you can be.”
Bette stood to face Tina simply because she didn’t like feeling as though she was being talked down to. They had started to talk in stage whispers to keep the volume from waking up Angelica, but the absurdity of their method of communication was not lost on them.
“I’m stubborn because I know what I want, and I usually get my way,” Bette spoke in measured beats. “You’re about the only thing I’ve ever wanted that I didn’t end up getting, and it hasn’t been easy for me to accept that you’re gone.”

Thanks for the shoutout! You’re an incredible writer with a natural style that pulls the reader in and makes one sorry when the chapter/story ends. Your writing demands rereading many times. It’s just that enjoyable. :-)
Brilliant, thanks so much for this. 62 Pages of pleasure.
Enjoy your stories which are good to read more than once.
Look forward to keeping on swimming :-)
I love this story, as I always enjoy reading your work!
Loved it, thanks so much. You are such a good writer!
Glad you are back,I love your stories.
I certainly remember this story and I love it more now. Thanks for updating the language so the profane language is present. It’s not that I am a complete potty mouth but let’s be realistic. Several of the stories that have transferred over have blanks or asterisks instead of the actual language. In my opinion, when this happens, the stories lose some of their authenticity and the characters lose their edge. I realize that it takes effort to fill in the blanks especially in longer stories. So thanks for doing that.
I find stories harder to read with the asterisks inserted…it’s like a jolt of reality interfering with my escapism. I had to get to the task of editing them out. I do plan to work on more stories; some easier than others because of where the files are. This story was first posted almost 10 (!) years ago, so the digital file was more challenging to retrieve. I’m not much for cursing, but the occasional well placed F-bomb can really get someone’s attention.
@JKS I can’t believe this story is almost 10 years old! It reads now as fresh as it did then. I really love your stories because they are so well written with realism, humor, sarcasm and authenticity. It also helps that for us ORs (Original Readers), it follows canon for the characters and storylines. :-)
WOW, what a fabulous surprise seeing you back here, JKS! So glad you found your way back here and have even edited! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help!
Wonderful story. Thanks for sharing again!
Thanks for your effort of editing and for giving us this wonderful story again.
It’s still as beautiful as I remember it from reading your story for the first time a few years ago.
Finally I managed to finish reading!
I was slowly reading this story.
And I confess that it was a great trip.
Pretty and wonderful.!
And to think that have passed since the 10 years, but
It remains very current.
The entire universe.
Don’t remember seeing this before and it was wonderful, took me back a ways. So great to have you back giving us something to read from you. Wish other former writers would come back to us, all of you are valued and missed greatly. So many of the stories are not completed, would be so nice if they were. Again welcome back, looking forward to more. Thanks.
Loved this! I love your writing. I’m so glad I’ve come across your stories, be it years later but better late than never lol
