    Bette hesitated a moment. “I’m just wondering who Katie’s father is.”

    By that evening, Tina was slightly more calmed but still dazed by what had transpired. She felt sick to her stomach that Bette was with someone like that but knew she wasn’t in a position to say anything – it would be her word against that of Bette’s husband.

    Bette had wanted to meet at her house to talk about the next day’s travel plans but Tina was adamant they meet at the club or at Tina’s house. Bette opted to meet at Tina’s to save her having to come back to the club and to see where Tina lived..

    At 5pm, Bette drove her Porsche into the driveway behind Tina’s blue Saab convertible. She walked by it, again admiring the little car and then turned her admiration to the quaint and meticulously landscaped while villa. She made her way up the front porch and used the knocker. She could hear Katie jumping and yelling to her mother. The Bette caught the curtain at the window beside the door move aside and Katie peering out with a big grin on her face.

    “Mommy, its Bette. Can I let her in?”

    Then Bette heard laugh and answered back. “Yes Katie. And hurry up.”

    Suddenly the door was clumsily opened, Bette guessed because of the height challenge.

    “Hiya Bette. Katie said as she three her body against Bette’s for a hug. Bette leaned down and gathered Katie up giving her a kiss on the cheek. “How’s my Angel? I haven’t seen much of you the last couple days.”

    Katie played with Bette’s curly hair and Bette smiled and did the same to Katie’s. “Mommy says its because you’re focused.”

    Bette laughed and looked over as Tina came in from the kitchen, wiping her hands on the dish cloth. The place smelled amazing from whatever Tina was making.

    “Hi. I forget to ask earlier. Will you stay for dinner?”

    Katie jumped in Bette’s arms, challenging her strength. “Yes, please, please.”

    Bette grinned., looking from one to the other. “Sure Jody’s not around til 8. Just let me give Nan a call.”

    Tina visibly cringed at the mention of Jody but Bette didn’t know what to contribute it to. She took out her phone and let Nan know not to cook for her.

    3. Love it, just love it. Someone needs to tell Bette about Jody, or Bette needs to ask him. Waiting for Bette to figure out what it is she’s feeling for Tina. She already gets jealous, misses her, hurts,etc., etc.. Someone please turn the lights on.

    7. I hope Nan tells Bette what she overheard so Bette can finally see what a a-hole Jody is. Whether T&B get together or not at least she will get away from him and his controling ways. PPS

    8. Yeah. Bette really needs to make a move soon. I hate reading Tina continually hurt by Bette throwing Jody in her face..so I hope something happens soon to spur Bette to some real action. PPS.

    9. I love this story and hate to go without it. Please don’t stay away long before posting again! I also like the parallel universe-ness of Tina owning the Saab, instead of Bette. You’ve taken the canon and skillfully rearranged the pieces into a story of your own and I’m liking it, a lot! I’m willing to go along at your pace, as their mutual attraction develops. I have to agree with Probie, that if you decided to dump Jody in the next chapter I for one will do a jig or two.Great chapter, geeze is this story good and as I have mentioned before even better when it has one of my favorite sports as its theme… Please please post more often from another of your adoring fans!!

    15. I hope that they are able to get to some spot where they can open up their hearts to one another. jody is a mean bas*ard. Bette deserves much better, besides I kind of wonder about jody. He is always hanging with his club buddies.

I guess you see what you look for. I’m glad Tina is putting Bette’s tournament firt. Can’t wait for the next chapter.

    27. Tina needs to tell Bette about Jodi so she can kick him to the curb. Is Bette related to Manny by chance??? That would be too cool. They would make such a great family. PPS

    28. Ok, I’m reallly tired of Jody, can we get rid of him already. I smell a scandal and prison time for Jody as Bette finds out he’s been embezzling her money(lol). After a quick divorce, Bette can use Tina’s brother as a donor and will find out that she is related to Manuel and therefore is really related to Katie. Whatever, just get rid of Jody.
