The troop finally got out of the pool and shortly Al and Dana were saying their goodbyes.
“I’ll go clean up.” Tina announced.
“I’ll help.” Bette added before feeling a hand halting her.
“No dear. Let me.” Carrie suggested, causing Bette to shoot a look of concern to Tina who gave her a smile to attempt to assuage her nervousness. “You can catch up with Ted.”
“Sooo?” Tina prompted as she and her mother worked through the dishes and leftovers.
“So what, dear?” Carrie asked.
Tina smirked at her and rolled her eyes. “Come on, Mom. You might as well get your 3rd degree in as I’m sure Daddy is doing.”
Carrie sighed. She had hoped to be more subtle but not much got past her daughter. “Ok. Your father and I are wondering how attached we should get to her?”
Tina burst out laughing. “Mama, that’s an excellent way to ask how serious we are.”
Carrie smiled in return. “Well?”
Tina looked at her mother. “You can tell daddy he better tread lightly because she is going to be around for a very long time, if I have anything to say about it.”
Carrie released the breath she was holding.
“I thought so. I haven’t seen you look at anyone like this since Kate.”
Tina locked eyes with her mother. “Mama, I can’t imagine that I would’ve given Kate the look that I give Bette.”
Carrie held her gaze before realizing the significance behind her daughter’s words. When she did, she drew her baby into a hug. “You don’t know how relieved I am to hear you say that.” Her mother whispered.
Tina took comfort in her mother’s arms. “Its probably going to be a bit messy, Mama.” Tina warned.
“Darling, if its what your father and I have, its worth it. We’ll stand beside you no matter what.”
Tears welled in Tina’s eyes. “Thank you Mama.”
Meanwhile, Bette, outside with Tina’s dad and Katie, was wondering with all his sideways glances when he would ask his questions.
Finally, he looked over and gave her a stern look. “What are your intentions with my daughter?”

Very very nice chapter, Robi. I too love this story. And I love Bette’s new partner in crime, Ted, more and more. I have a feeling these two are going to get along very well.
It sunday and it must be scheduled posting of “love all” ah yes … woke up to find this. It one of this things I like about sundays ;-) great story and its certainly heading in the direction for a couple of drama scenes now…And when I am not following english football I am following Rugby, , I wont comment about the All Blacks. But will just say thanks for posting and I look forward to you next posting. If by the way you feel like treating your fans to another chapter before next sunday dont let us stop you ;-)
Bette’s tough,and Tina is even tougher, I have faith that they can handle whatever Jodi may try to throw they’re way. Katie is too funny.
Well, my team does not play rugby but they do play college football and we are doing okay. The Rainbow Warriors of the University of Hawai’i are hanging in there. I am getting really excited about all that is happening in this story. For once I see a happy Bette with friends and family around her. Nan has always tried to watch out for her but she could only do so much for Bette. Now Bette has a larger support system to help her kick what’s his face out of the husband/manager role for good.
I can feel it coming in the air tonight… The drama!
B4 I even go read the story I had a crack up about your comment about the ALL BLACKS!!!! I’m a kiwi who works at a ‘rugby’ school, imagine the drama!!! even my mom at 80 was wild especially at Graham Henry. Oh well, Hei aha (Never mind) as I said the Magpies won over the Chiefs but today lost to Auckland. But our team, the Magpies are heroes to us.Hope your heart has recovered. I thought the French played very well today but another loss to the POMS. I’m picking the Argentinians. I’ll go read the story now/oh yeah the Aussies trashed us at League 2day.

Hm, the image of Jody trussed to a court net and wearing nothing but that sleazy little mustache is nauseating, yet hilarious. Honey, though, is to good a coating. Tar and feathers all the way for him. I’m glad Bette passed Ted’s test with flying colors. (There was really no doubt of that though, was there?) Her wanting to have that talk with any of Katie’s potential future suitors was too cute. And I hope that Bette doesn’t feel she doesn’t measure up to Kate somehow… Tina needs to let Bette know there’s no comparison. Great chapter, Robi. Can’t wait for next Sunday. Thanks

That was very sweet sorry for busting you with the prenup thing :)love the way Tina’s parents are warming up to Bette. I know it’s not going to all be roses and sunshine Bette will probably loose a couple of people who are pretending to be her friends and sponsors who are afraid they will be tainted by a homosexual sports star but at least she will be able to drop that millstone that is around her neck into a very deep ocean. This is going to be a very long week have a good one.
