Love and Basketball Chapter 26
“Well we are a couple. So there.” Tina just didn’t want to deny it anymore.
“What?!” Trevor said. “You’re a fucking dyke?!”
“Trevor!” Kathleen was standing at the door and she did not look happy at all.
“You will not use that type of language in our home. And you will not speak to Tina that way.”
Kathleen had been listening for a while.
“Mom I’m sorry.” Tina was not sure what was about to transpire.
“Trevor please excuse us.”
“Ok aunt Kath.” Trevor looked at Tina with a look of disgust before leaving the room.
Kathleen studies her daughter. She always considered her a young woman who knew her own mind. She had a fire in her that made her fight for herself. She was very proud of the woman she is becoming.
“When did this happen?”
“Well I was attracted to Bette the moment I saw her. I saw her playing and I was so impressed with her skills, but I knew there was more to it.
“I remember you coming home and talking about this All American you’d be playing with. Your face just lit up every time you said her name.” Kathleen said thinking how it all makes sense now.
“I was with Eric at the time and my feelings were confused me a bit. It didn’t help matters any that she was dating one of my good friends.”
“Who?”
“Desiree.”
“Have you and Desi..?

“No mom. We’re friends mom. Nothing more.” Tina clarified.
“Oh, well she has stayed over a few times. I was just wondering.”
“Mom, not every lesbian is scheming to convert every straight girl.”
“Tina sit down. I want to tell you something I have not shared with anyone in 20 years.”
Tina saw her mom was serious and she was nervous to hear her out but very curious.
“When I was about your age I had a good friend named Carol. She was beautiful, smart and popular. I always admired her because she was so independent. She would always tell me to never depend on a man to make me happy. I had to find happiness within myself. I never knew what she meant by that.”
Tina just continued to listen quietly.
“One Saturday after a day of shopping at the five and dime,” Tina looked at her with furrowed brows.
“It was like a Dollar Store in the 70’s. Except everything was a nickel or a dime.”

Great update. Thanks God Tinas mom is o.k. with the situation.PPS
That went better than I thought with Mrs. Kennard,( but then again her past experience dictated a different outcome, that was hard and sad to read)and who cares what Trevor thinks. Love the texting between Tina and Bette. Can’t want for the next chapter.
So glad that things went this way with Tina’s mom! I hope Papa Kennard can accept her pumpkin. B&T are super cute in this. Love it. Thanks :)

“So, do either of you have any questions?” hahahaha she is so cool haha I will freak if I find myself in that situation great chap PPS
Awww, love how Bette asnwered: I love her very much. Also it’s very sad story bout T’s mom and Carol and it just show how people can influence other people lives and should take a good look what they’re doing. Great chapter!
Glad that Tina’s mom is so supportive! :-) and lol… Does Bette expecting to be grill or what!? Such a gullible question with lots of possibility. Thanks for the update!! ;-)
Wow, mom was so cool.
At least Tina’s mom is cool about it, Trevor on the other hand needs a kick in the head or lower. Great update. PPS
