“Parrots? Bette almost choked on her piece of pie.
Shane grinned evilly at Alice who had gone red
“Yeah – yellow and purple parrots against a background of dark green leaves “
“Sounds delightful “Helena said dryly grinning at Tina “I must hunt a pair out “
“There’s nothing wrong with them – they are unique “Alice defended herself
“Alice – they are horrendous. Every decade has its fashion mistakes but whoever created those things deserves a short walk to the guillotine “
“As I said – the winner is Helena Peabody “Bette waved her sisters arm in the air
Alice smiled with good humour and returned to her food. Despite all the ribbing she really felt a part of this gang of women. There was no explanation for how they had all found one another but they had.
“I would like to think that you five will always be my friends “she said after a few minutes silence
“Oh Alice – don’t get sentimental – it’s far too soon to get soppy “Shane threw a tea towel at her “We’ll stop picking on you if you want but don’t get all sentimental”
“I agree “Lara said “What is everyone doing for the summer and whose living where next academic year? “
“I’m going home and get a job for a few months then I hope to hit the beaches and do some surfing – be a beach bum. “ Shane explained
“Helena – what about you? “
“Still in the air but I gather that I will be putting in some hours at one of my mother’s companies. If I pay enough penance I might get allowed the villa in Italy and another crack at Italian lesbians – man you have no idea how beautiful some of them are. In fact if I get the villa we should all get together and seriously cruise for women “
“Always game for that “Shane agreed
“I love Italian cooking –that would be so great- and the women sound good too “Lara smiled
“What about you two lover birds?” Shane asked Bette and Tina
“I’m working for Peggy for a while but we’d love a holiday as well wouldn’t we babe?”

Hello Ally, Great to see the gals having some down time together. I love these special moments; there are just little scenes in a lopng life but ones that are important. They show how friendship works and how much it means to all the gang. The dialogue was wondrous. It flowed alonged and carried along this beautiful chapter. Shame that Bette was so envious of Helena at first and that Helena is now enivous of Bette and Tina’s relationship. Amazing to see the gals grow and develop. Life leaves its footprints on us all. The naughtiness of Bette and Tina alone on the beach was delightful. More please. Ally, you have an artist’s way with words. Each scene is painted and shaded to give depth and character. I love and adore your fine work. Thank you. Your Loyal Fan.
