    Love In Blue ch.18

Jackson was feeling better a couple of days later and we took the rest of vacation to relax at home. We received Jackson’s new bedroom set and we put everything together. He had insisted he wanted green walls with dinosaurs painted on them. As his room came together, Tina and I often discussed how we should explain why him and his momma have come to live with me.

Tina was making us some dinner while Jackson and I sat at the table with our pencils, drawing. I was impressed with his drawings, he was a very creative three almost four year old. After a while he stopped drawing and dropped his pencil. He stared at me for a while and I looked at him and smiled. He smiled back and patted my hand.

    "What’s up buddy?"

    "Can I ask you a question B?"

"Of course buddy," I said and concentrating on him.

"Are you gonna be my new mommy?"

"Um..I..why do you ask," I said, looking to Tina who was deep into cooking and listening to her ipod.

"My daddy has a new lady living at his house. She went camping with us. She’s a stupid lady," he said pouting a bit.

"Don’t say that dude," I said as I finally caught Tina’s attention, and she walked over.

"She is, she’s a nurse and she’s stupid."

"Baby, don’t be ugly," Tina chastised, "who are we talking about."

"The lady who lives with daddy," Jackson answered before I could say anything.

"What," Tina asks, and I shake my head.

"Momma is B gonna be my new mommy?"

"Do you want her to be your new mommy," Tina asks, sitting.

    "Yeah."

"Why? Don’t you think mommy should get a new daddy?"

"Um," he says looking at both of us, "um, I don’t know. Um, Jake at school, he’s my best friend, he likes to draw too. He’s got two mommies and his two mommies are nice, they bring us cookies and juice. And I saw you kiss B and Jake’s mommies kiss too."

"Oh really bud," Tina asks and he shakes his head. Both Tina and I blush, we’d thought we’d been sneaky, "who is this lady that lives with daddy?"

"This lady, she’s mean and ugly. I don’t like her," he said going back to drawing.

    1. Guessing that the “stupid” lady is Amy (being lazy and dont remember if that was the name of the woman at work who was threatening to reveal B&T’s involvement to Eric) and that while its wrong for Jackson to say it but is right in theory that shes a stupid lady because shes probably calling them B&T stupid that they didnt realize she & Eric are together & probably have been since before B&T got together…so sorry about that very lengthy sentence there – just SO disgusted by Erics behavior towards and around Jackson (allowing this woman to be around him & say these things). Thx for the post and curious to find out the identity of the mystery woman and whether Eric will shape up??

    2. Great chapter. It is bad when your stuck in between. Kids can adapt quickly to new surroundings but are also likely to pick up things especially negative things about the people close to them… Hope things get better for you and your partner… =]

    3. Thanks for the posting to another amazing story. Its unfortunate that some adults don’t know how to be mature around their children. Bad parenting begets bad parenting. Kids are very smart and know where they feel safe and secure. Thank goodness for Bette and her incredible heart in the way that she loves Tina and Jackson in this story and he will always look up to her because of the way she respects him and his mom. Thank you!
