    Love In Blue ch.18

"Bette, how did I get so lucky," she said wrapping her arms around me, I kissed her lightly.

    "I got lucky."

"You sure will tonight," she said and winked, I kissed her when we heard Jackson call out.

"Momma I am hungry," he said as he entered the kitchen.

"Ok buddy, dinner is ready," she said as we parted, he smiled and hugged my leg. I picked him up and he wrapped his arms around my neck.

"Alright little dude, let’s get you seated and momma will bring the food."

We sat and ate making small conversation. Jackson was talking animatedly about going back to school. He missed his teacher and his friends. He liked snack time because they always had a musician come in a sing a song. Mr. Angus liked to sing songs to them. This is the first time I’m hearing all of this. I hadn’t spent this much time with him, so I am taking note and learning a lot.

Tina gave Jackson a bath while I cleaned up the kitchen. The phone rang and it was one of Tina’s former co-workers. As I handed Tina the phone, I took over the job of getting Jackson ready for bed. I put his pajamas on and tucked him into bed.

    "B."

"Yeah buddy," I said, running my fingers through his hair, getting it out of his face.

    "Do you love me?"

    "Of course bud."

    "Do you love my momma?"

    "Yes sweetheart."

"How much," he asked, and spead his arms as far apart as he could, "this much?"

    "Yes, even more than that."

    "How much?"

"You see how far away the stars are at night?"

    "Yeah."

"That much. I love your momma with all my heart."

"Ok B," he said and got up and hugged me, "I love you too."

As he lays back down, he stares at me, smiles and then his eyes close. With tears glossing my eyes I kiss his forehead and get up. I turn to see Tina in the doorway, tears streaming down her cheeks. I walk to her, closing Jackson’s door behind me and I embrace Tina, and she kisses me. I can feel her tears on my cheeks. We part and I cup her face in my hands and wipe the tears away with my thumbs.

"I told you, he’s my family now."

"I didn’t think it was possible to love someone as much as I love you."

"Let me show you how much I love you," I said as I led Tina to the bedroom.

    1. Guessing that the “stupid” lady is Amy (being lazy and dont remember if that was the name of the woman at work who was threatening to reveal B&T’s involvement to Eric) and that while its wrong for Jackson to say it but is right in theory that shes a stupid lady because shes probably calling them B&T stupid that they didnt realize she & Eric are together & probably have been since before B&T got together…so sorry about that very lengthy sentence there – just SO disgusted by Erics behavior towards and around Jackson (allowing this woman to be around him & say these things). Thx for the post and curious to find out the identity of the mystery woman and whether Eric will shape up??

    2. Great chapter. It is bad when your stuck in between. Kids can adapt quickly to new surroundings but are also likely to pick up things especially negative things about the people close to them… Hope things get better for you and your partner… =]

    3. Thanks for the posting to another amazing story. Its unfortunate that some adults don’t know how to be mature around their children. Bad parenting begets bad parenting. Kids are very smart and know where they feel safe and secure. Thank goodness for Bette and her incredible heart in the way that she loves Tina and Jackson in this story and he will always look up to her because of the way she respects him and his mom. Thank you!
