Love In Control – Chapter I – Savannah (Part 1)

Rian smirked. “You shut up, Barbie!”

“Well, Alyssa wasn’t wrong on that one. I could easily compare you to this model who used to be big back in the late 80s or something, and whose pictures are scattered around in our place …”

Bette was now laid out on her side, propped up on an elbow. “Her place is a huge penthouse overlooking Central Park, Rian …”

Aerin gave her own “did-ya-hafta?” look with raised eyebrow to Bette. “Which doesn’t change the fact that this woman here is a dead ringer for a spectacularly beautiful model who I have pictures of back at the “ranch,” so to speak.  Think she and some of her model friends used to go to parties in the house … you must be related …”

Rian shut her eyes and blew a breath out as Ed carefully pushed on her leg to stretch it out as far she could manage. “You’re one to talk, Barbie,” she muttered, unwilling to let Aerin have the last word on this.

“Seriously, Aerin. What’s going on?” Bette asked, again, cutting in.

“Stuff. Couple stuff….” Aerin shrugged again, a helpless tone sneaking into her voice.

Bette flicked some water at Aerin playfully, shaking her head. “Stuff … couple stuff?  An Ivy League education, 140 IQ, and that’s the best you can do?”

Aerin blew a breath out impatiently. “I don’t know where things have gone wrong.  It’s like they’ve gotten out of control or something.  But it’s not always like that with her, Bette, believe it or not.  And I’m trying … really hard … to stay in it.  As compared to how quickly I would have left that kind of scene before.”

“I’m no longer the type who would take one girl to a party and leave the party with another girl, Bette. Things really changed for me after LA …” Aerin added quietly after taking half a minute to collect her thoughts.

While Aerin talked Bette traced a circle on the mat with her finger, cut it in half, thinking about how to respond.

“I don’t mean to discourage you, Aerin,” the brunette started.

    “Look, Bette …”

“But staying in it … as you describe this … if she’s someone you feel is your true partner … shouldn’t feel “hard.” Not to say you wouldn’t need to work on things.  You would.  But you look like you’re laboring under a heavy weight, Aerin.  And not having fun …”

    1. Where to start Skydancer……..? You’ve taken us on some wonderful journeys, introducing us to your alluring cast of characters. In addition to your version of Bette and Tina (which I absolutely adore), you’ve let us have a front row seat into the lives of Aerin, Harley, Jade, and Rian, each deep, rich characters in their own right. Now you’ve started us on this new, exciting journey with your ensemble cast, that will hopefully end with each in control of their loves and their destinies.

I hope that when Rian finds that switch to her spotty memories, she’s ready for the consequences. Like the saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”

By the way, my mind is in overdrive with Bette at a golf course resort. Please make Bette, as she is in every other facet of her life, an excellent golfer with a low handicap. The differing sets of tees and handicap system combine to make the game an even playing field no matter the player or the location. In my opinion, there’s nothing sexier than a woman who can conquer a traditional man’s game and put a cocky man in his place. Oh, and tight golf capris won’t hurt either….just sayin’.

I’ll be sure to grab the popcorn and a nice glass of Pinot Noir before reading your next chapter. Anxiously awaiting.
