Love In Control – Chapter I – Savannah (Part 1)

Aerin was shaking her head and waving her hands as if to say it was nothing, and then laid out a a fresh towel over one mat for Rian to use.

When Rian fell to her knees and hit the mats with a thud, she remembered.

“I was just thinking I either knew you from somewhere, or had seen you someplace….”

Aerin cocked her head to one side. She let the other fresh towel she’d slung on one shoulder fall to the other mat and started to stretch it out.

“And then I remembered where. Bette and Tina’s duplex in New York, less than a year ago.  You were leaving just as my girlfriend and I were arriving.  You were halfway down the block then, and pulling a car door open.  I don’t remember if you were with someone, but you were motioning that you were going to call someone….”

“Then, during the dinner party Bette and Tina had invited us to join, as my girlfriend and I walked around I saw some pictures of you and a girlfriend flash in one of the picture frames in their studio room on the second floor, one of those that show rotating pictures, remember?… Anyway, whomever you were with in the pictures looked like she was your girlfriend. You were kissing in some pics and her arms were around your shoulders or your waist in most of them.  Beautiful, blonde woman…”

Aerin’s face tightened at that, the cheery mood in her eyes changed and grew sad, and she bit on her lip.

Sensing a shift in her demeanor, Rian stopped talking. There was an awkward silence that fell between them. Aerin sipped from her water bottle, while Rian examined her finger nails.  They were kneeling on the mats facing each other but not looking at each other.

Aerin coughed a little. “Ummm  …you’re right.  I used to be close, or closer to them.”   Used to?

“I think you could stretch a little first while I go get Ed, and then he can help you.  You might want one of his leg massages, too, to work the kinks out,” Aerin finally offered, but her voice was stilted now, less friendly.

Rian reached out to gently lay her hand on Aerin’s arm while Aerin prepared to stand up. “I’m sorry if I said anything that upset you.  Here you are, having been so considerate about everything … while…”

    1. Where to start Skydancer……..? You’ve taken us on some wonderful journeys, introducing us to your alluring cast of characters. In addition to your version of Bette and Tina (which I absolutely adore), you’ve let us have a front row seat into the lives of Aerin, Harley, Jade, and Rian, each deep, rich characters in their own right. Now you’ve started us on this new, exciting journey with your ensemble cast, that will hopefully end with each in control of their loves and their destinies.

I hope that when Rian finds that switch to her spotty memories, she’s ready for the consequences. Like the saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”

By the way, my mind is in overdrive with Bette at a golf course resort. Please make Bette, as she is in every other facet of her life, an excellent golfer with a low handicap. The differing sets of tees and handicap system combine to make the game an even playing field no matter the player or the location. In my opinion, there’s nothing sexier than a woman who can conquer a traditional man’s game and put a cocky man in his place. Oh, and tight golf capris won’t hurt either….just sayin’.

I’ll be sure to grab the popcorn and a nice glass of Pinot Noir before reading your next chapter. Anxiously awaiting.
